Ai Weiwei giveaway!, by kjg on Oct 24, 2023 16:37:19 GMT 1, Last Sunday I went to Ai Weiweiโs In Search of Humanity show at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam. A very nice retrospective with lots of cool art, beautifully presented in a fitting, almost temple-like setting. There is also early work by Ai Weiwei on display, in which you see how the activist in the artist awakens. Totally recommended!
To celebrate my nearly 3.900th post on this forum, I am giving away two booklets from the show: one with some background info on Weiwei and the art that is displayed and one childrenโs Look & Do Tour booklet with questions and games revolving around Weiweiโs art works and his thoughts and ideas. Both booklets are only available at the show, so kind of rare :-)
The rules are easy as always:
1. Everyone can join.
2. To enter, just like this post. Please no lists :-)
3. I will asign a number to each member who gives a like.
4. I will make a list with all the numbers and use a randomizer to pick a winner.
5. The draw will take place on Friday, 27 October at around 9pm CEST (7pm UTC).
6. I will pay p&p.

Banksy โข Visit Historic Palestine Poster โข Walled Off Hotel, by kjg on Oct 21, 2023 23:28:52 GMT 1, Hi everyone, I'm new to this Forum, was hoping I could pick your brains please :-) I have purchased Banksy's 'Visit Historic Palestine' poster apparently from The Walled Off Hotel. From what I understand it's meant to be an offset lithograph but I can't find any of the mechanical dots/circles that you'd expect with this. I'm wondering therefore if it's a fake? It is embossed and ink stamped. It has come with a receipt apparently from the actual hotel. I have studied all the other similar hotel receipts I can find online. What I have noticed about mine is that it is the only receipt with the stamp where the writing in pink saying 'The Walled Off Hotel' is to the left of the pink image stamped on there - on all the other receipts I can find online this is the opposite (the pink stamp saying 'The Walled Off Hotel' is always to the right of the pink image stamped on there). Any thoughts from Banksy experts? This has come from Israel/Palestine. This person claimed it was the last one, but now has another one on sale, also claiming it's the last!

I think he brought out a multiple of one of his small aeroplanes once, didn't he? Not sure how many were made. I would love one of those.

However, what can be seen inside is literally and figuratively impressive: due to the weight of some works of art (one weighs 10 tons), the floor of the museum had to be reinforced.

Still available at Phaidon.  Had the luck to see this exhibition during the summer, the book is great as well:  Surprise, surprise - my wife bought me a book at auction. America by Warhol, signed on the cover and with provenance. Its so cool I consider framing it:  Where can I find a wife like yours.....๐๐๐

I guess the only way of telling if this image is true to life is to recreate it in the real world! If anybody has a similar purple car, knows a woman with wings for ears and a man who appears to be one of the undead, please get in touch
