Hello folks,

My brother is gonna have a baby later next spring and he asked me to help him find some affordable works of art that are different from the classic unicorns & other cheesy baby stuff. Any ideas? I thought of Parra of course, there's some open editions that are easy to grab, otherwise I thought of Gary Taxali, Keith Haring... Any help will be appreciated. What's in your babies room? Thank you!

There are some nice reasonably priced original canvases etc. Maybe not ideal for the kids room I'll grant you.

I personally don't find Dran child/baby friendly at all. Quite the opposite, actually (with the exception of a handful of works).

I imagine my kid would s**t his pants if this was on the wall



Kid-friendly artists of whom I approve: Eine, Hirst (spots), Jonas Wood, James Joyce, Zacharevic, Kaws x Uniqlo stuff, Stik, Parla stuff without the nipples.


Other kid-friendly artists: Martin Whatson.

I would agree. Even some dran that may look like innocent children is quite dark. 

I had some pahnl up and recently grabbed a few el pez (the happy fish guy, not the pixel etc guy)

I second that. Whenever I pass it with my six month old girl I have to stop as she starts laughing, smiling and 'talking' to it. We'll mive it to her room. Youngest Stik fan on earth.

Bought a couple of little canvasses from Madderdoit as well a year or two ago. They were very reasonably priced, kid friendly, well packaged and came with one or two free bits thrown in which was nice.

If you have a larger budget, Seth Globepainter is very kid friendly and worth considering. Be careful of poor printing on some of his earlier print editions though.

Know Hope is putting out a 6 print subscription ($300) which may be kid friendly. Fairly small so framing won't be too bad.

Haha exactly what I thought, for a 5-6 years old I think it would be fine but for a new born I figure it would be scary.

If the parents find dran too dark, probably their sons will find it even darker. A matter of taste. I agree, Dran in my view is not suitable for children.
