Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by Gentle Mental on Feb 14, 2009 4:11:23 GMT 1, my gut loved it. it's terribly sweet. but your links and info helped me pull the trigger.
nothing beats making an informed purchase, cuz that's long term true love.
buying based on gut alone feels like a cheap one night stand...
thanks everyone!

6-8 months ago he had an 8x10 aluminum piece on his site for $1000.00, not sure if they are made in editions but I would assume so as I have seen a couple of the same pieces in different shows. The piece was "I like having stuff"

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by howlinjack on Feb 14, 2009 11:18:11 GMT 1, i know what you mean vera. i have a queen vic that's sits and waits until my daughter grows up and leaves home. no way is that allowed up in our house. until then its the cheeky occasional glance in private. back to this piece. i'm sure it will have its fans but to me it just reminds of a rather flash "you dont have to be mad to work here it but it helps" sort of thing and doesnt make my leg tremble. but credit to POW for doing a print that resonates with the times and it made me smile. and i'm sure it will sell out and in this climate its being bought for all the same reasons people bought at the beginning. because they like it. thats the best bit for me. the good ol days. if this ends up being one of those things i talk about not getting years down the line i'm just gonna have to live with it like i have had to live with all the banksy, micallef, faile, eine work i have passed on when i should've bought the lot. what will be will be. she sang.(notice the link back to vera at the start of my reply eh? eh?) one last thing. there is a book called "is it me or is everything s**t? can be very funny at times. what he says about powerpoint: the microsoft tool that encourages people to think and talk like f**kheads. I've always felt it slightly wrong not to display art of this nature as "my kids might not like it". More often than not it's the adults fear and understanding of the work, rather than the childs interpretation that creates the problem. Children rarely look at art in the same way, and certainly with the Queen Vic piece would failt to understnad it as an adult does. I personally think it is good to expose your kids to art of this nature, it enriches their lives rather than makes them worse
ooh you fucking liberal. she's ten. and with other banksy, eine, kauffman, pieces in her bedroom she's getting enough enrichment.

Touched a nerve have I! As for being a f**king liberal, how would you know? And your thoughts on children seeing art & how parents interpretation colours this? Think about the Queen Vic, it's your take on this that makes you feel uncomfortable with a chld looking, almost all children see it as a funny picture of a woman sat on someone else, nothing sexual, nothing sinister, no more no less. They think it's OK, if not a slightly funny image (which I imagine is what Banksy meant by this).

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by Andy'77 on Feb 14, 2009 13:03:34 GMT 1, Really like the print, but I'm a fan of typography as it is. Only found out about ESPO recently due to discussion on the lightside but like his work alot. Decent price too. Unfortunately can't afford one at this present moment really. Hopefully secondary market prices will stay similar...

how would i know? you have typed out your liberal views for me to see. have you been conducting some secret market research with the children of the UK and banksys queen vic? got the feeling you might not even have children of your own or if you have they are still very young. children need to experience a childhood. there's plenty of time for everything else as they get older. when my daughter is older i'll be able to explain why this image exists and why banksy did it in the first place. the innocence of youth doesnt last long and it should be cherished. as for touching a nerve dont flatter yourself. my nerves have been desensitised over years of alcohol and drug abuse. its going to take a lot more than that to get me going.

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by Gentle Mental on Feb 18, 2009 14:16:11 GMT 1, So glad i pulled the trigger on this one (despite my current state of extreme lack of wealth) - because i er.. think this is the "Keanu Reeves" of POW prints - it's what Yoda would say if he's into spraying stencils on walls.
and the choice of colours and type is pure genius.
FYI - the SOLD OUT has disappeared from the cream version, perhaps some might be popping back ?
