Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by primetime on Jan 30, 2012 20:04:05 GMT 1, Went to the three NYC Gagosians this weekend, was a lot of fun. Three very cool spaces, a lot of spots. Madison Avenue show had one of the very early spots which was a bit drippy but cool looking and may actually have been done by Hirst. The gallery on 21 st street had the 1mm diameter spots, that canvas was the one with over 25,000 spots. The 24th street gallery had a number of very large pieces and many circular spot canvii. Interesting note, right at the 24th street gagosian there was a crochet covered shopping cart locked to a sign post. Specifically at the corner of 10th street and 24th at the car wash there, appears to be a OLEK street piece.

They still have some at source, but not many, probably a couple of dozen, but I know a lot of dealers have copies ready to make available when they are no longer available from primary.
Yes, this really is the edition size, pricey too as the black version started around ยฃ1k - ยฃ1.2k

One is full of spots and the other has mainly skull works and other artists. Both galleries not 'massive' but I enjoyed them. Outsiders not tooooo far away.

Shipping will be Fedex or similiar and will be flat packed. Forgot to ask about local pick up but could be worth a ring if thats your intention.

The average Joe does not usually get the chance to own a Damien Hirst piece. But that could change thanks to a campaign called #AverageJoe.
It was set up by Josef Valentino, 22, who is trying to complete the Spot Challenge; a competition set up by Hirst to promote his latest global retrospective.
To complete the challenge, entrants must visit all 11 Gagosian gallery locations around the world where the artist is exhibiting.
The winner - chosen by Hirst - will then receive one of his original pieces.
