Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Daniel Silk on May 3, 2016 23:00:36 GMT 1, Yeah, interesting. I guess Kim Jong-Un is gonna be a big figure on the World stage for decades to come, so these images by Cartrain might gain more interest in the future than they are at the moment. I was trying to think of other similar figures that have appeared in Art in this scene over the years? How about saddam hussein for DFace. What makes you think he's going to be a big figure in anything but waistline? Kim Jong il, if we think about it wasn't really and it's been the same story with North Korea for 60 years. They will never use their weapons (if they really have them) because that's the only bargaining chip they have, and without them there's no rice or whiskey for Kim Jong un. As to this type of art, I have no idea why people want images of mass murderers such as Mao Zedong, Saddam or in this case Kim on their walls. But each to their own. Interesting that to my knowledge no ones done a Hitler pop art...yet. Well his name and face are well known for whatever reasons. I mean comparing North Korea to other countries in the World he must be in the top 10 of known World leaders, don't you think?

As we say, it's all subjective and hey, it's your wall space, do as you wish.

Depends where in the world. Having lived in the Far East, I always got the impression the North Korean leaders are seen as a bit of an irrelevance. But they're seemingly more infamous in the west.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Cedric Mnich on May 4, 2016 9:17:07 GMT 1, On a compositional point of view, the original Marylin is left oriented. Why not mirror Kim in order to have hair orientation in the correct direction... Especially as the hair shades are mainly on the right whereas the face shades are on the left... Wrong composition imho. I don't have Photoshop at office but I think a mirror effect on Kim would look more accurate or "natural"... If someone has 5mn to lose...

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Deleted on May 4, 2016 11:57:34 GMT 1, Maybe Cartrain is a political activist lampooning opression and starvation of commie dick taters in order to sell quick photo shop made art and live a luxury lifestyle? I made no reference to Ai Wei Wei there you notice.
Lampooned and arty farting dicators can work great as parody and shok schlok images and too much PC has made many people not get the satire or joke.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by missprints on Feb 22, 2017 21:16:22 GMT 1, Hi all. I have a couple of Orignal signed Cartrain collages from around 2008 I am looking to sell. They are quite big - bigger than A3 big but not quite A2. Do message me if anyone is interested.
His original collages are quite sought after it seems - so hopefully someone will snap these ones up Thanks
