So what's the going rate for an unsigned "test-print" sold without Fairey knowing it? What's the edition size again, 21/31, 50+?

What sort provenance does it have besides a PayPal receipt, a link to a web page that is is no longer available, and a comment from a printer with suspect practices at best?

Now that you've got it "authenticated" what do you think it's worth? Honest question and won't comment any further in your FS thread.

These aren't unofficial. They have been approved by obey as official unsigned test prints.

The first run was a bland colour pallette and cost $3k

I'd say a gold version should be worth more and if you are near a Shep exhibition just take it along and he'll sign it.

So I can understand your problems with the prints seeing as you paid $3k for something that isn't as good as these test prints which cost a tenth of the price but there's no need to mega troll the products in hope that the insults make yours remain valuable.
If anyone you should have a problem with right now its Obey (who charged you $3k then let them be released) not the guy who sold them cheap to fans.

First, let me correct your couple of your mis-statements. Obey didn't charge anything near 3k for the authentic ones. It was under the 1k range. Even in today's market, Obey charges 2.2k for metals. Second, what give you the permission to say the Obey versions are bland? They are far from that and if you had seen one in person you wouldn't make a statement like that. Third, Obey has not confirmed anything. We have a producer who went against an artists wishes, who is claiming this. Until Obey says anything, then is when it can become official.

What you have is a printer publicising a private email between himself and Shep. So we know Shep commissioned him to produce the test...and that's it.

Actually Metals in the last show at Toyroomgallery was $2700 and the show before that at V1 was $3200 per signed metal all editions of 2 + AP. I put money that you will never see an official Metal release under $3500 again.

I'm not saying this test print will get anywhere near that. And I highly doubt Shep is going to be signing these given the unauthorized nature of this release. Shep is my h more calculated with the release of fine art.

Approved by Obey, or not, these have never even been seen in person by Shep, nevermind signed.
For a serious collector, it's hardly the same as his official ones which are made either by him or in his studio and signed.

All the more reason the seller should be offering much more disclosure on what he actually has and not trying to pass off this bootleg as an official work by taking offers hoping to land a sucker who didn't ask the right questions.

This thing has nothing AT ALL to do with the metal pieces released by obey giant. Obey prints the authorized metals in-house, in an edition of 2+ an AP.

This was printed by a third party as a test run that Shep didn't like. It's also a stated edition of 50. AND it's not signed by Shep. Why? Because he didn't authorize its sale as a fine art edition.

IF, and that's still a big if, Shep decides to split the profit with this guy for lack of a better solution and authorize it retroactively, these are still test prints that happen to be on metal; not to be confused with actual OG-produced fine art pieces on metal.

You know, the ones that are signed by Shep, sold through galleries and deserve the $3-7K prices they realize on the secondary market.

I guess you guys aren't following the obey forums or expressobeans but the seller has come out with an official statement from obey stating that they are classed as official test copies
