What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by jakek on Sept 10, 2010 21:12:04 GMT 1, Still enjoying the corsa ??
5 years and 60k miles the corsa is still going! Thinking about the maths again though, it was actually only about a third of the corsa - if i could do it all again i'd have kept the pieces on the wall and gone from banger to banger!
It's not the end of the world though - i used the same amount of money i'd got and now have a signed soup can and an unsigned iftl on the walls. They may not be as popular images but they mean more to me.
Also i think selling an original has got to have more opportunity for regret as once it's gone it's gone - where as with a print you can always try and get another number from the edition.

What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by Heavyconsumer on Sept 14, 2010 18:57:54 GMT 1, Lots of prints in my portfolio were bought just because of the addiction. Its an addiction to smart images, lovely paper, the smell of ink and paint, but mainly its impulsive. Everything now has to be a committee decision and there are not enough walls to hang them, not enough frames that suit the print and decor, not enough money to buy the frames, too much money spent on impulse etc...etc... I don't regret buying anything really but do regret that I didn't think long enough about whether I would be able to or want to display them. My name is Shane, and I'm a print perv.
;D
Similar story here. Went through a phase of buying all the images I loved and then realised I had nowhere to put most of them. Then bought a portfolio and things continued until it was full! Now I've sold some pieces off and the ones I'm left with that are not on the wall, while being lovely pieces of art imo, I suppose I should regret having bought. I should, but I don't think I do. I think I should though and that's about as far as I've got at beating the denial of ever having been compulsive about it all.

What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by curiousgeorge on Sept 14, 2010 19:09:15 GMT 1, Had a good friend and forum member stay over night, got to showing him stuff in my plan chest. One thing in particular had us both nearly wetting ourselves with laughter.Perhaps not so much about the images but my last comment
I present you with the evidence........
My final comment as said forum member was howling with laughter, "Oh if you think that is funny i bought multiples of them too!"
Real regret was buying a Judgement Day from a forum member/gallery for around todays prices because it was damaged from being stored with a water colour. Turns out it wasn't water colour damage at all but his kids playing with felt tip pens, easy fuggin mistake to make if you are dishonest i guess!!

What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by Martin M on Sept 14, 2010 22:45:23 GMT 1, Great funny thread
My biggest by far regret buy has got to be Adam Neate - Queens special!!!!!, queued up for bloody hours hoping to get one of the other prints, all sold out when i got to the jump, served by the slowest lady in the universe on the till, parted with £1250, yes that's £1250 of my hard earned, bought at the top of the market to feed the old obsession, absolutely hate it. i Will never buy another print to put under the bed. I feel better for that.

I have a lovely two sided piece. Quite small, but I am very partial to it.
There are lots of very talented artists around, but Adam Neate impresses me like no other. His last Elms Lester show was incredible.

What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by Martin M on Sept 15, 2010 20:26:42 GMT 1, I queued up that night outside Laz, really fun night, i actually persauded two of my mates to part with £4700 as well, which they constantly remind me - i am now sacked as there art advisor!. Anyhow mine are framed and on the wall, they are really good prints, but most people around me were merely there to flip the next day, which they all did. they flooded and killed there own market. I still think Micallef is a brilliant artist.
Anyone want to buy a Adam Neate "Queens Special" - Giveaway price !!! £1245 or nearest offer!!!!

Sad really.

Beg to differ, go back to page 1 of this (images included)
I've spent far more on Neate's than mentioned in this thread yet don't include these as I'm still in love with them

What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by Ottomatik on Oct 23, 2010 12:56:14 GMT 1, Being a sheep in recovery, I regret buying all of my Mr Brainwash prints! Except one, Don't Be Cruel (pink gun). I love the image, my mom loves Elvis. Mom and I have the same birthday, and Elvis died on the same day. (16-08). Sad to say, it was the first one I let go. It's the only one I want back. Don't judge me, MBW was just starting to be noticed when I got into this crazy art collecting world. At the time he was releasing some eye catching prints, it was right after his LA show. As the months past and I discovered this forum, you guys were opening my eyes to some VERY talanted artist. Miss Bugs, Faile, D*Face, etc.... Which continues to happen, I just discovered Herakut because of photos you guys posted last week from Moniker. As I discover really gifted artist, it makes me rather angry that I wasted all the $$$ and time on Mr Brainwash. I guess the nail in the coffin was seeing his last print release. Kiss the Beatles. Honestly, WTF? Garbage, it is! (Speaking of Garbage, does anyone know when Shirley Manson (I love her) is releasing her solo album?)
....and there you have it, my shame is at your disposal.
On a side note, still searching for a Herakut Permission to Paint print..please keep your eyes on the lookout for me, please guys.
Also, wanted to add a photo of my latest art purchase. Was less than $15.00, and that's shipped from the UK to US.
I love the mug as much as the coffee I drink out of it!
