I realise not knowing must sound ridiculous to someone who actually collects art but I've just been too nervous to unroll them in case I somehow damaged them in the process - so helpful to know the opposite is true (even if I feel monumentally silly right now). |

This one seems legit and I think that you known it as you want 5 k.. Strange, these roll waves, paper was not so thick.. I'd say the paper is quite thick from my perspective (it's certainly thicker than any 'poster' I've ever bought) ...and they have been rolled for a decade. I know it's legit because I bought it in the original sale, my issue is establishing adequate authenticity/provenance for buyers because obviously they're going for a lot more than the original £5. I don't buy or sell art so I'm not sure about the etiquette of these things... the only other relatively valuable piece I own is a signed Jan Svankmajer poster which I bought directly from him.

I was saying 5K based on the one that sold at Christies - but that was a year ago and I had no idea until this morning that I was being an idiot keeping them rolled up.

I paid $100 for it - but that was more to help support him making his last feature film than because I expect it to be worth anything anytime soon - I'm never going to sell it because he's my favourite filmmaker and that's my favourite film of his so I don't really mind too much. It's his late wife's design (she was his longest collaborator before she died). He sells unsigned versions for €10 directly from his studio's webshop svankmajerjan.com/z474-plakat-k-filmu--spiklenci-slasti/ (tbh if you wanted a signed version - reckon there's a good chance a politely worded email to the studio would be considered - probably much cheaper than $100 too).

I have it all framed up so I'll take it out tomorrow and get some fresh pictures, I did take these pictures over a year ago. The signature on this one is a bit weak too which made me a little doubtful of its authenticity, but if you suggest that is a factor of it being real then I'm convinced.
The paper is on the thicker side of what I would expect from a poster but it is my first poster so I'm not entirely sure. The smoke looks decent and there's no dots in the bottom right, or inking or dots in the ink itself which I've seen on some fakes

I have been searching ( there is a long long thread - including my photos - ) a thread about fakes that a galery sold at a moment, but, i did not bookmarked it, so I can't find it... It tries a lot of keywords...
It was a thread by a member ( as lot of others) that have been swindled by a gallery on line i think, selling them.. .There was great comparison pics and texts ( by Met alos, our expert ) ...
But sorry I really can't fin dit : if a kind member or a mod ( .dappy ? ) could help you and put the link...
It's the night on here, I pass my time, to sleep, sick, so I cant take a photo now...
The only thing that I can tell you is that the font of the poster has a slight touch of "baby sky blue" in the gray and the poster isn't totally gray, but that's hard to catch with a device. I'll see tomorrow morning .. Maybe this thread has been closed, but, like the Banksy tenners, we learned a lot about fakes ( I know ;(

I can see the baby blue in the grey that you mention on my poster.
.dappy thank you for the link to the thread, I've previously had a brief look through and noticed that none of those tell-tale signs are evident in my poster so that's a good sign lol I'll have a proper read of all 20 pages 😂

I can see the baby blue in the grey that you mention on my poster. .dappy thank you for the link to the thread, I've previously had a brief look through and noticed that none of those tell-tale signs are evident in my poster so that's a good sign lol I'll have a proper read of all 20 pages 😂 |

There was a large thread about 'tate ward'auction house.. they were caught selling a lot of these fake posters. A member posted some really good photos of fake v real. Try and find that thread, I'll have a look for you also.. 👍
