So true !!  It makes things harder and very amateurish (good or bad way). One of the reason why I stopped, I wanted to move to airbrush although I don't like airbrush art, too soft.

Like this multi-colours Fela Kuti's cover, it doesn't look like but there is lot of work on this because each color is made of multiple layers of basic colors.

- Dark brown = brown + black + brown
- Yellowish dark brown = brown + yellow+ brown
- Red brown = brown + red + brown + a bit more of red
- Orange = yellow + red + yellow



Note this is the rubber ducky version for the US market
(fact is that I was bashed on FB for posting boobs, hehe, people people people)

My biz partner. He's an architect and artist. His sculpture below, similar to Louis nevelson. We designed a killer building with innovative features, and the equity partner and builder started cutting all the best parts. We were frustrated and I said "man - fuck those guys" and he said that. Haha.

Ha yeah, totally. I can't help but find something inherently satisfying about the combo of the Edwardian portrait being sucked into some Doctor Who style wormhole.

Saying that these were just test prints to check the screen was printing ok. Gonna be making them far more garish and tasteless over the weekend....

At the risk of boring the shit out of people with this image I've managed to get this onto canvas. I knackered the original stencil by tearing some of the more delicate layers... Bad planning on my part. This resulted in me redesigning and cutting this again to make it slightly more detailed and practical for painting.

I wasn't keeping track, but I guess around 10 hours to do all the cutting.
Spraying takes a while too, waiting to dry between layers.

This one ended up about 22 sperate stencil layers to get all the extra details added.

Well, as I stated, he's supposed to take it some other way. That's why I stated 'please don't take this badly.' It's one of the problems with textual communication, and one of the reasons those of us that try to use it correctly use phrases and terminology to contextualise a statement. And the thread is titled 'Your own work - amateur', so what am I missing? It's like your work, Lee. You're an amateur, and you paint in your spare time and try to sell a bit, and that's great. I wish you every success. Do you think Batemanz work is the equivalent quality/skill/depth/vision as yours? I'd love to read your take on it...
