Swap help (please)., by tinyballs on Nov 12, 2006 14:28:24 GMT 1, Hello,
I live in the US and have arranged to swap prints with someone living in the UK. I am nervous about posting my print without knowing if he/she will hold up their end of the bargain, though he/she seems very nice and a handful of people can vouch for them. Is there any way to ensure a safe trade? Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks in advance for your help.

Swap help (please)., by foundation on Nov 12, 2006 14:41:41 GMT 1, Why not ask an independent third party to receive, check and post on both ends of the swap, like a mediator, that way neither set of prints gets sent to the final owner until both ends of the swap have been posted by the original owners and verified by the mediator, a bit of extra hassle for someone but either a small financial or artistic sign of the 2 parties gratitude could be arranged. Just an idea mind, but one I feel has merit in this day and age of prints upwards of a grand. Good luck with the swap tiny, good to see people are swapping rather than selling.

Only rule would be, if you don't trust the other party, don't do the swap.

I've swapped things with a few people on this forum before, and I've had only wonderful experiences. Of course, I may just be lucky. Yeah, I guess the best for you would be to get a middle person. Is this person a forum member here?

Swap help (please)., by gm on Nov 12, 2006 22:35:15 GMT 1, Of course, the middle person might just keep both prints and vanish with them.
Edit: I've just realized... this was my 500th post! ;D

Swap help (please)., by manchestermike on Nov 14, 2006 15:31:20 GMT 1, I am in the same boat - wanting to swap my Grannies/or another I get for ideally trolley hunters but am a little concerned about posting it abroad. Whilst I trust the people I chat with here con artists do exist and sending a £700 print with no real guartantee seems pretty difficult to do. Was thinking the other day that 3rd parties who recieve and forward goods wouldnt be bad idea - like Pay pal but for hard items and not cash - expensive though - 2 lots of postage. You can trust me - I can act as the 3rd party!! Silky - this could be a business for you - you admin of site - trusted - we would know where you live should anything go missing.
Yeah... we know where you live

Swap help (please)., by RBK on Nov 14, 2006 21:55:18 GMT 1, Just ship a tube within a tube, insure it, and opt for the shipping option that is trackable. I've sent and received many a tubes over the pond.
