Visit BRISTOL π¬π§ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Feral Things on Oct 3, 2014 20:48:56 GMT 1, Beau Stanton's latest show entitled 'Tenebras Lux', which translates roughly as 'From darkness to light', takes it's inspiration from the 14th century crypt which houses the show. If anyone in Bristol hasn't yet caught it then the show runs until Sunday (and it is well worth the trip) and it will then transfer to Stolenspace in London from 10 October to 2 November:

Visit BRISTOL π¬π§ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Feral Things on Nov 26, 2014 16:47:48 GMT 1, There's a couple of really good exhibitions at the Arnolfini at the moment.
Josephine Pryde's exhibition is entitled 'These Are Just Things I Say, They Are Not My Opinion'. It's hard to beat an exhibition where you get to have a ride on a graffed up miniature train through three rooms of a gallery:

Visit BRISTOL π¬π§ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Dr Plip on Jan 15, 2015 21:10:41 GMT 1, I thought that people might be interested to see the current state of the remaining pieces by Banksy in Bristol. Funnily enough, although every stencil piece that goes up seems to be attributed to Banksy by some people, the majority of Banksy pieces in Bristol which are still in a reasonable state were painted freehand. Anyway, here we go: Hanging ManThis got hit with a paintball gun a couple of years ago. Mild Mild WestThis also got hit with a paintball gun at the same time as Hanging Man but it got cleared off straight away. Take with money with Inkie and Mode2. Three kings! Heavy WeaponaryDesignated Picnic AreaApart from the fact that it's very badly faded, this piece has suffered from the rather unusual problem of its surrounding now being in too nice a condition. This alley was always being flytipped when the piece was painted but now it's been tidied up and painted the once-ironic message has been slightly lost. PoodleThis is on the wall of the Barton Hill Dug Out ball court where Inkie et al. learnt their craft. There was a reunion painting session and barbeque last summer and unfortunately someone wrote over this piece without realising what was on the wall. Sunset with Inkie This is round the back of my street. The Free tag has been there for years but a bit of my neighbour's gate fell off last year; hence the hole in Inkie's piece. Kebele with Lokey, Kato, Soker and Tes This was part of a bigger wall with Lokey, Kato, Soker and Tes but unfortunately Doodlebubz (pretty disrespectfully in my opinion) painted over those old-school writers and inserted himself into a wall with Banksy. Rose TrapI think protecting graffiti behind plexi-glass is straight up ridiculous but this piece is in a far better state than all the other stencils around town from this era. Pierced UpSafe and sound in a tattoo parlour. Rollermania with Kato Grim ReaperFortunately this wasn't painted on a spot of the hull which hasn't stained. Also fortunately, the Harbourmaster hasn't buffed this piece like he did with the previous Banksy piece on the side of the Thekla. Quak Attack with Kato, Lokey, Tes and Soker That is possibly the s**ttest tag I've seen. Ever. Gorilla with a maskThe North Bristol Social Club closed and the new owner whitewashed the wall. Then he realised the gorilla was by Banksy and tried to remove the paint. If this was a real gorilla they would have put it out its misery by now. Blowpop RecordsAlthough this stencil is in a poor condition it's still in a far better condition than the once beautiful building it's painted on. Planning Permission Anyone still reading? More Heavy WeaponaryWell it's in a better condition than the sign. It's actually St Andrews Road. And something from the archives. This Love Is In The Air was the most recent Banksy piece to be buffed in Bristol. I've got earlier photos of this piece somewhere but this is how it looked in 2009. Sometime around 2007 a fake LIITA was painted on the same wall and, being more recent, it wasn't as faded as the genuine piece. Anyway the owners whitewashed the wall last year but painted around the LIITA presumably so they could keep their Banksy. The only problem was that they painted around the fake LIITA and buffed the genuine one. Lovely thread.
