I’m going to the UK/London for the first time and only have a 10 day holiday there. Is it worth dragging my whole family to Bristol to stay one night to see Banksy murals?

is there anything much to see these days or has most of it been removed/covered in Perspex so it’s no longer worth it?

I understand the Bristol museum only has two pieces on display.

Girl with a pierced eardrum is still great I believe. As is the guy out the window. There is amazing work in Bristol. A visit along North St to see the Upfest pieces is a must. Start at Aldi and make your way to Dean Lane skatepark. 

London the Falling Shopper is still there. Barbican pieces may still be there.

All good advice but I think the Falling Shopper is currently covered by scaffolding or possibly removed.

I recommend the Where the Wall Street art tour of Bristol and if you are lucky you might have the main man John Nation as your guide. 

Bristol Museum has the Paint Pot Angel and M Shed the Thekla piece. Mild Mild West, Girl with a Pierced Eardrum, Hanging Lover and Rose Trap survive as far as I know.

I could advise you about the” Bristol street art tour “‘with the legend of Bristol ( one of the first on the walls with Inkie, xxx, etc etc ), our mate John Nation.
You can take an appointment with him via Facebook, he is truly a legend and will show you best and historic walls of Bristol …

For any Banksy fan, I'd say it's 100% worth it. I feel like a proper tourist whenever I go to Bristol, and get excited seeing the pieces in the flesh. It also helps that it's a lovely city. The guy hanging from the window is probably worth the trip alone, imho, as it's wonderful. Mild Mild West was on display last time I was there, and at the museum (very close to the guy and the window) there was the paint pot angel and Monkey Parliament (no longer there???) in the foyer.

As for London, East London/Brick Lane is really good for street art in general. There are Banksys at Cargo, right next to a huge Stik (at his studio I think??).

Hate to say it but I would say probably not worth going to Bristol to be honest. I went to upfest last year which was second rate.

The Conor Harrington piece in the centre is really impressive but outside of that it's pretty much the usual suspects. I stayed near turbo corner, opposite Banksy's Mild Mild West piece which is showing its age now... that area has a lot of great streetart but it's pretty rough at night time

Stick with London, they'll be more than enough to keep you occupied

I lived in Bristol for many years and squatted with many artists. I now live abroad but I still have friendships with many artists who have since had gallery exhibitions in Bristol and London, one artist in particular gave me a list of pieces they are trying to sell. I have access to a few exclusives direct from renowned Bristol artists. 
These are artists who are well respected within both the fine art scene and the urban art scene.
