Banksy Owner atlast!!, by lesroy on Jul 11, 2006 15:03:44 GMT 1, Hey guys,
I just wanted to share my jubilationa at finally becoming a Banksy owner!!!!
I have been looking for a long time and have loads of pictures of some of his street work but I have never got round to owning any of his "proper" prints.
Anyway I just shelled out 300 sheets on a Jack & Jill. My stomach is still in knots after spending sooo much but I really love the image! One of my favourites along with the CND and Pulp Fiction.
Im happy with the picture and it was bought to look at and be on show so I know it was a good move! (was it lol).
Anyway, do any of you have any advice for getting it framed? Any tips I should know of or special things I should ask the shop?
Finally, if Banksy ever releases another POW print, how quickly do they sell out? Is it likely I will get one if I wanted/ liked one?
Cheers for the help lads.

Banksy Owner atlast!!, by mido on Jul 11, 2006 15:09:58 GMT 1, Jack & Jill signed sold out in 3 to 4 days. Unsigned took several months to sell out.
then the market went mad and all the ones that people had said would never sell out (napalm, the rats, toxic mary) did all sell out around april/may and a bit of June
the next print may be quicker! although POW will try to limit the amount of copies people can buy....

Yay!! Glad to finally be an owner!
Now... what's next? hehe

Banksy Owner atlast!!, by Daniel Silk on Jul 11, 2006 18:19:44 GMT 1, ahhh, Space-Aged-Things is a good trusted ebay seller No probs ;D
I have been framing mine up in the 70x50 thick black frames from Habitat £24 ;D Bargain! The thing I like about those frames is that they are so thick, you get a couple if inches air gap behind the backboard ;D so plenty room for air to circulate

errrm, air inside your frame is perhaps the last thing you need ! moisture, air, acidic etc etc..

Yeah Ian is the chap... Seems a nice guy, I managed to haggle a little with him and get his price from £370 to £299. Seems like a good deal to me!
He also has a nice red Shat-at but I think I may wait till the new coloured Shat-at comes out and grab that for "normal" money.
How quickly do POW tend to sell out of these prints and what is the best way to "know" when the new ones are coming?

Banksy Owner atlast!!, by mido on Jul 11, 2006 22:00:23 GMT 1, yep there should be 2 shat-at colours left to come (the plan I believe is to have 5 colour ways overall)
sign up to POW's email list via their website, and keep your eye out on this forum fro any new banksy's 9and others...)

I agree. I find the best way to preserve prints is to make sure they are attached to a nice rigid surface, like fibreboard for instance, very securely. Wheatpaste works quite nicely. After gluing it to the board, you want to prevent air exposure to the surface, so I suggest sealing the front up with a few good layers of clear packing tape. Just make sure to use acid-free wheatpaste and archival-grade sellotape......
If anyone is interested, I can offer this framing service for the amazing introductory price of only 50p!

Banksy Owner atlast!!, by lesroy on Jul 12, 2006 8:48:11 GMT 1, Jesus lads!! You're joking right?
The thought of "Sticking" my Banksy to anything hurts a little... following that by the words "Sellotape" and 50p make me feel all queer!
Seriously though, anywhere decent to get them framed and I assume shop assistants can be tructed to hold on to your Banksy whilst they do it?

Banksy Owner atlast!!, by foundation on Jul 12, 2006 10:46:16 GMT 1, Lesroy, it depends where you are, but in general go round a few framers, get a rough idea of prices and what the offer, eg UV resistant glass to reduce the fading to the print, float mounting ( not using any harmfull adhesives to mount your print) acid free backing and mounts, anywhere that does this type of stuff and knows what you are talking about will generally be quite trustworthy to look after your print as a few hundred quids worth of banksy print will be at the lower end of their business. If you can find somewhere to use archival framing practices on your print then be happy. Bear in mind its not cheap, i have some prints where the frames cost more than the print. Good luck !
