Documentary about Banksy, by rillo on Oct 25, 2006 13:21:06 GMT 1, I think you may have got a bit lost in translation here. Banksy is not an activist and neither are his fans. He is an artist who beacame famous for painting pretty pictures on walls. Nowadays he paints on canvas to sell to Holywood celebrities in LA and also produces posters for his fans to sell to stockbrokers on eBay. I suggest you just air the Robin Hood cartoon rather than waste your time making a documentary. All you need to do is change the title to Robin Banks.

Or maybe read a bit more on this site before asking if anyone has an opinion on him?? After all its a DISCUSSION FORUM and there is plenty in the history to keep you busy!!! Or go and buy his books. I hear they are marvellously priced over on a site known as eBay......

Documentary about Banksy, by andrewd on Oct 25, 2006 20:43:21 GMT 1, I rather thought that one of the things that film directors did ( delegated or not ) was research!! As you have access to the internet there is plenty of info there. You could ask Steve Lazarides @ Lazinc.com for an interview with his protege. I imagine that you won't get one but hey, you've tried. You will also see at the end of this page there are two very short films about Banksy. Best of luck and if you do complete your project please post alink to it on this site.

Documentary about Banksy, by longhu6 on Oct 25, 2006 22:43:23 GMT 1, Hi thintanti, welcome to the forum. I'm not aware of any Banksy's in Paris, but there are French members of the eBay UK Banksy group that would know...
Go to ebay.co.uk, then "community", then "groups" and search for Banksy. I second the request that you please post your film here when completed.
Personally my interest in Banksy has to do with the art itself primarily, but also with the fact that it addresses issues in the world that are of interest to me.

Documentary about Banksy, by thintanti on Oct 26, 2006 13:26:31 GMT 1, hey thank you everybody for your ideas and points of view I'll put the short film when it's going to be finish but don't expect it before a few months because now it's just a sort of pre production. For rillo what i meant by activism it's the way Banksy's art is very controversial and the different stunts he made and the fact that he stays anonymous are things that I found really interesting thanks again and keep posting your differents points of view.

Documentary about Banksy, by rillo on Oct 26, 2006 14:18:47 GMT 1, Today is a marvellous day for you to realise what it is like to be a fan of Banksy. Hit the last 100 posts button and read the frantic messages posted from 9.30 this morning that followed the release of a new poster. You will soon realise that not one of the band of merry men on here gives a shit about the image or the message of the work. All we really care about is how much the poster will be worth to the bankers and dealers who trade on the eBay stock exchange.
To quote from Robin Banks: Now some of you might think that our loyal host intended this treasure for the coffers of Prince John (stockbrokers?), instead of to ransom the king - and you'd be right. But a strange thing happened (POW?). A change of heart overtook him in the forest and there it is safe and sound (with the fans)!

Like my old man once advised me Rillo, "Son....stay off the drugs, they'll do you no favours"
Couldn't give a monkeys chuff what they go for on eBay, cos I will never afford them from there unless he starts to nosedive...not likely.
My fascination with him lies no deeper than the fact that I love the imagery - I rarely look for meaning in the message if it doesnt slap me in the face immediately, but then it rarely needs to.
Dont bag us all in with the glory seekers, thats not what the (hopefully) majority of the posting members of this forum are at all.
