Seriously I wonder if any thought has been given to the type of paint used by Banksy and others. Oil paint lasts for ever but acyrilic does not and some Hockneys are starting to show signs of wear. Damien Hirst is of the view that long term decay is part of the artistic process but has agreed to replace his preserved creatures as they start to fall apart.
I wonder how long spray paint will last for on a canvas? I'd tend to think that Banksy realises that his paintings may not last forever but I can't imagine a graffiti artist would think any other way.

Hence it became a much sought after paint in the UK graff scene in the late 80s early 90s but you couldnt get it anywhere. I think banksy is just giving a nod to the old skool graf culture that he comes from rather than advertising the paint he uses. There are better quality paints on the market..he prob uses belton or montana. In case you were wondering....!

Nope, I'm not a monkey ( I opresume that's what you meant ;D), I'm one the 5 great apes.
Regarding the paint he uses.. last i saw he was using montanna.. but I guess he has preferences, as we all have... he certainly doesn't endorse any paint companies though.
