street stuff, by blackasmarch on Feb 19, 2007 15:39:14 GMT 1, Hi,
I have a Banksy street piece (rat on a newspaper box) legally bought a few months back and featured in one of the Banksy books. I'm currently using it to store my LP's and have no intention of selling but was wondering if anybody has an idea how much it would be worth?

street stuff, by absyrd on Feb 19, 2007 15:43:12 GMT 1, I don't know who is going to be able to give you a fair appraisal of something like that on here.
However, feel free to throw up a few pics.

street stuff, by slowmo on Feb 19, 2007 16:03:46 GMT 1, Not too keen on private ownership of street pieces. Essentially its worthless, but if you could prove through photos from Wall and Piece and the previous owner of the newspaper box that it is the same then I guess someone would give some money, no idea how much though

street stuff, by thetongue on Feb 19, 2007 16:07:04 GMT 1, Just because it was bought off someone else doesn't really make it legal art in my eyes.
I'm glad stuff like this doesn't really have a value else every f*cker would be ripping down walls! ;D
But yeah do put some pics up, would be a cool vinyl case!!

street stuff, by goingblankagain200 on Feb 19, 2007 16:18:35 GMT 1, Hard to know about value but think 'a lot'. If you can prove authenticity and have receipts a gallery could potentially be interested. Helium Foundation etc are selling these kind of pieces for many thousands- £30,000 for the Banksy Queen Vic Shutter. I think that their gangsta rat on meter cover is about £10,000. I haven't seen one on ebay but I think that it could do pretty well- £5,000 plus.
