Last Banksy?, by saltandiron on Mar 5, 2007 16:37:43 GMT 1, I was just wondering who here honestly believes that they'll buy another banksy? Personally I have no intention of joining team refresh to try and get one of the LA prints - the pictures are good but they don't make me want to sit in front of a screen for a very long time on the off chance that I'll get one. And the ebay prices are out of my league (or rather I'd prefer to spend that money on a couple of prints by other artists)
So I've realised that I'm unlikely to ever buy another banksy (barring a lottery win or everyone else completely losing interest in his work so that I can buy from POW easily).
Just wondered if other people are in the same place as me or if there are a lot of people here who still plan on getting a banksy of some description?
p.s. the reason I stick around is that I think this forum stopped being about just banksy a long time ago. I find out about a lot of other great artists on here.

You are being generous in your evaluation of the remaining LA prints S&I, apart from the spark and older style of trollies the others do little and inspire less, the ammount of people with such a limited scope for life that feel the need to refresh all day everyday should be given the prints for free as a reward for wearing out the F5 button months ago. Count myself lucky to have been able to collect what I have, when I did.

Last Banksy?, by biggayal on Mar 5, 2007 16:44:34 GMT 1, I do hold out hope of getting my hands on another Banksy at some point - but must agree with you that I'm not gonna refresh all day in order to get it I'm also not really in the position to buy off e-bay unless I come into money somehow or use swaps... I wonder if he'll exclusively use Laz in the future and he's new prints will then cost in excess of £4000 each (a la Micallef)..... So chances are then that I'll not be adding to my Banksy collection which is a real shame

true, but then it'd be a day off work, plus the train fares, youth hostel and all those little things. I didn't mean for this thread to sound whingey, I'm not too bothered by it really, I'm more interested in why people come to the forum, is it for banksy or for other artists or a mix of the two.

Last Banksy?, by corblimeylimey on Mar 5, 2007 16:56:56 GMT 1, I hope to get a Trolley print, and after that hopefully get a flying copper off ebay, but unless POW sell the next Banksy screen print releases after the LA set for the same kind of price I'll be out of it for good. I'm happy to of been introduced to other artists and to buy some stuff from them for only £30 - £70 or so is fantastic and IMHO I'll enjoy their stuff just as much.

Last Banksy?, by Run Pig Run on Mar 5, 2007 17:56:04 GMT 1, everyone thought jack and jill was the last print last summer. There people making a lot of money out of these Banksy prints, it would be foolish to just suddenly stop doing them.

Last Banksy?, by Curley on Mar 5, 2007 18:08:40 GMT 1, Have some of you got nothing better to do that worry if you will ever buy another Banksy. Come on people get a grip of yourselves there more to life than this you know. Plenty of other amazing artists out there, Who know's you find the next Banksy before the rest of us.

Last Banksy?, by stuey09 on Mar 5, 2007 19:04:39 GMT 1, I never say never. If the opportunity arises to buy Trolley Hunters, then happy days. If another opportunity arises and I have enough money to spare then I would buy a print from Banksy or any other artist that grabbed my attention. I do agree with you regarding the great sharing of information regarding other artists work though. Those that highlight some interesting and obscure gallery's and artists, get my gratitude and respect.

I really shouldn't laugh at that, but it cracked me up! I hope all will be fine in the long run

So, you've had sex--at least once--*AFTER* you got married?! Mind sharing the secret of how you managed to pull that one off so the rest of us married fellas can learn a thing or two? Nobody told me getting married would mean getting less than the local priest does. . .

Last Banksy?, by tadghostal on Mar 5, 2007 20:53:33 GMT 1, alcohol. that's also how i plan to avoid going to my grave a born again virgin. just my luck she'll get pregnant again.
Would like to say something here, but my wife may read this forum someday in the future.
As far as having bought my last Banksy, I'd have to say 'hope not.' Still have two spots on the walls awaiting the arrival of a Grin Reaper and a Love Is In the Air. (Why is it that I can't seem to put together a deal that will stick for either of those?) Thanks to the help of an unnamed member of this forum I *did* come this close "--" (literally, two dashes are exactly how close it was) to getting a steal on a LIITA: 200083282817. I, stupidly chose not to bid due to her clause stating "pick up only," and the fact she didn't respond to my inquiries (until 2am our time to say "sure, I can ship to you." which was not received until awakening, by which time, the auction had ended. <tad ghostal shakes his fist at the sky, frustrated>).
In fact, I'm currently the proud new owner of my first two Banksys--Flying Copper & Applause--but still have yet to see either of them. Hopefully they are as good as I've been imagining.
The newer works have left me less enthusiastic as the older ones though. The old ones were just so spot on. Have you ever heard a song, or read a line, or seen a work of art that just seemed like they HAD to be made--sooner or later, somebody would sing/say/paint it because the idea was so obviously right (yet, you somehow were unable to see how obvious it was yourself)? To me, that's how the older Banksy's are. The newer ones are a little too pointed and less clever. It won't be a struggle for me to pass on them. I may end up buying them for future trades, or to help finance the purchase of LIITA or Grin Reaper. ("Boooooo! Hissss! Booooooo!")

I'd love to talk about sex and marriage as well, but since getting married two years ago I have little recent experience with the topic of sex to go on. At this point, my best theory is that sex and marriage are mutually exclusive--that is, unless/until your wife decides its time to begin a collection of crumb-grinders. Then you might be fortunate (using that word quite liberally here) to actually get a refresher course; but it'll be all business--and none of the funny business either. We've all seen people doing "The Robot" on the dance floor, right? Well, I doubt any further explanation is necessary. . . .
BTW, that reminds me--Congratulations LW! Sounds like your family is growing.

Was it around £1000/£1500? not to sure ,i bet someone will know. From POW J&J was £150 signed / £75 unsigned. On the bay, unsigned ranged from 100 to 400 ( was well pissed off at having to pay £325 for a GWB last febuary). signed ran from 300 ( J&J / CND) up to about 800 ( GWB, BME, WSM), first print for more than a grand was about may time. The real price increases happened once POW started selling out of the banksy stuff, napalm, IFTL, rats, mary, cnd were all available until june / july time. Hope this helps.
