Jack & Jill or Applause, by lastpost on Apr 24, 2007 19:27:27 GMT 1, Hi all. I am new to this so please be gentle!! I am the proud owner of an unsigned Jack & Jill...however I am having strong cravings for the ownership of an Applause. The way things are, it is unlikely I can afford to own both.
I would really appreciate peoples views on the two prints to perhaps help me make my mind up?!
Thank you

You have to consider the size of Applause. Framing would cost a bomb... it's the largest Banksy print to date!
I say keep your J&J. It's more colorful and has more of the classic Banksy stencilly feel. I think it'll brighten up your wall a lot better than Applause, which is predominantly in greytones. My opinion, of course

Jack & Jill or Applause, by tomhills1 on Apr 24, 2007 21:55:56 GMT 1, seriously though, i had an applause and had to let it go. unlike most of these lot, i don't have a mansion hence no room i bought a flags instead and am well happy with that, all framed and on the wall for a good price. i actually had money left over from selling applause to buy the flags and get it professionally framed!
as for the jack and jill, i will get one at some point. i really like the image and the fact there are a few about, i just need to get one or two others first. what i like is that genius banksy trait of making an image look astetically appealing on first look but once you double take the real image hits home. also read that for napalm, maybe even BME etc.
stick with J&J and take a year or so to try and save up for applause, i don't think it will double overnight. your choice though pal at the end of the day, good luck.

Jack & Jill or Applause, by lastpost on Apr 24, 2007 22:22:10 GMT 1, I think you are probably right. The only wall I have big enough is in the lounge and I don''t think Applause would look quite right somehow!! I would love a Napalm...however there we are talking real £££'s!!! Thanks for your thoughts.

Jack & Jill or Applause, by tomhills1 on Apr 24, 2007 22:26:16 GMT 1, yeah, you need the wall space but also the floor space for a sense of perspective too. be patient and be frugal, you never know what you might get: someone on this forum got a pulp fiction for £550 and a signed applause for £1500 in the last couple of weeks. makes you think, yeah?

Jack & Jill or Applause, by Mobu on Apr 29, 2007 11:34:49 GMT 1, Hmmm Good question.
I have both a signed J&J and an unsigned Applause and I love both of them very much. Obviously I love the J&J about 3000 times more..
Anyways from the size, the applause looks amazing but costs you an arm and leg to frame. Think it cost me £120.
The Jack and Jill is a lovely picture though and still to me seems to be more unique for some reason. Banksy's old stuff was far more meaningful.
J&J would be a more sound investment, but it all depends on which image you like more mate.. buy what you like more!!!

Jack & Jill or Applause, by absyrd on Apr 29, 2007 17:19:33 GMT 1, I also have both, and my J&J catches my own eye on my wall MUCH more often than the Applause.
Often the pictures you'll see on ebay and such for J&J really don't do the blue background justice, whereas the pics for Applause are pretty spot-on.
Like everyone else said and will say, though, it all depends on which image means more to you.

Jack & Jill or Applause, by nombei on Apr 29, 2007 18:09:56 GMT 1, just my opinion here, but the pre-LA prints are what i think of when i think of Banksy. the LA prints just don't have the definitive stencil look and i find them less "playfull" (for lack of a better word).
i'd stick with the J&J
