jack and jill real or not?, by Michael Jacob on Apr 12, 2007 20:14:04 GMT 1, Hello everyone. I was keeping an eye on this, as it ends in just over two hours (160104341058 ). i just read another post somewhere mentioning that this print would NOT have the yellow splashes along the bottom. The splashes were from the canvas. Does anyone know if any prints from POW every has the yellow (maybe this is a fake???). also, the flack jackets appear dark and the rest of the black areas are lighter. Please advise. This forum is great, with all the help everyone offers.
here is the listing. cgi.ebay.com/Banksy-original-Jack-Jill-signed-numbered-323-350_W0QQitemZ160104341058QQihZ006QQcategoryZ360QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

jack and jill real or not?, by Strange Al on Apr 12, 2007 20:49:45 GMT 1, As others have highlighted the main photo is of the canvas version and not the print. Save to mention, that the other pics posted by the seller just don't add up.
If this seller is genuine, they've done themselves no favours with their listing. I'd steer well clear without concrete provenance.

gentรacardi on Apr 12, 2007 20:58:51 GMT 1, The picture of the POW stamp and number looks like it was taken during an earthquake. If you have the print in hand, and if you can take a picture of the signature, why post the picture of the original (and worse, list it as "Banksy ORIGINAL")? Surely you can easily take a picture of the print itself while taking pictures of the number and the signature?
The seller's either extremely sloppy and lazy, or it's suspect. For some reason, I'm more inclined to believe the former, though...

jack and jill real or not?, by paulah on Apr 12, 2007 21:11:34 GMT 1, I emailed him about it I think it's ok - he is the original buyer from POW and the number is ok - just a bad pic I would go for it (I'm not btw - but did give it some thought!) I'm not sure if you'd have to pay any duty?

The mind boggles why people do it...

jack and jill real or not?, by Strange Al on Apr 12, 2007 21:33:54 GMT 1, Paulah - did the seller give any reason for posting a picture of the Canvas and how do you know the number checks out?
The seller may well be completely genuine, but if I was going to spend that sort of cash I'd want to be doubly sure.
I really don't understand people who sell items worth a significant amount writing lazy/sloppy listings. Sloppy listings undoubtedly put buyers off and raise doubts, which in turn affects your final sale price.

jack and jill real or not?, by hankpank on Apr 12, 2007 21:56:40 GMT 1, I think this is ok. At first he only had the canvas photo up and I mailed him:
"yes, the print is my possession. i would not offer it for sale if it wasn't. the print is safely in it's original tube from POW and i hesitate to remove it, aka: steve wynn. it is as i've described. i will add a photo of the tube later today. it is hand signed and numbered as i've indicated."
(Steve Wynn was the guy who put an elbow through a Picasso a few months ago) ;D
I just think he's a bit clueless and that he hadn't even taken it out of the tube when he listed it. When people started to wonder he added the other pix.
Also he's in USA and as most Banksy fans (still) are from the UK, some are avoiding it for shipping/tax/refund reasons. That definitely affects price.
