Golf Sale, by beefstockcube on Jul 18, 2007 8:08:33 GMT 1, I'm quite new so I'm not 100% in the whole posting thing yet, anyhow here goes:
What would be a fair offer for an unsigned Golf Sale?
I've had a look on the bay and there is one there but it has over 100 watchers so it might get a bit mad.
Any and all help appreciated.

Jesus this isn't the best example of a golf sale sale.....
"This is 100% original Banksy Golf Sale. However I aquired this print from the legendary "Back Door Brummie" It was an un-numbered un-signed print, "borrowed" from the original run.
It had received quite a lot of damage and has been professionally restored. However you can still see some crease damage if you look carefully. My framer had to mount & bond the print to get it look best.
This process reduces the overal value to the purist, but make the print look better."

Golf Sale, by scavos on Jul 18, 2007 8:43:15 GMT 1, I'm far from an expert and I don't own a Banksy print yet but I'll throw my thoughts into the mix if I may? Call me old fashioned but isn't this a little risky to buy a damaged/restored print that isn't signed or numbered? There is no provenance and frankly, some story about a dodgy Brummie isn't really cutting it. I gather from previous threads the Brum who was found to be dodgy was indeed sacked by Banksy back in the day, so this print could be one of those handed out. But that wouldn't be enough for me to want to buy it. If you're still thinking about buying it perhaps you could ask to see detailed photos of the paper as that is the biggest give away as to it's authenticity. The print should therefore be worth considerably less than the current market value, but as with anything, it's worth what your prepared to pay for it. If you really love the image, an alternative would be to print the image off yourself onto good quality paper and hang that until another signed and/or stamped one comes up. I've just noticed this morning that an u/s Golf Sale is 'coming soon' to Camp Barbara so it might be worth giving Frankie a shout. He's very helpful.

If you are not the seller, how do you know how many watchers there are?

Yep, something not quite right there.

Golf Sale, by jam on Jul 18, 2007 9:56:39 GMT 1, Beef... run the other way, this print is shite. He mentioned selling it on another forum in this way:
'I'm going to list my "Golf Sale" Anybody have any offers / swaps / or deals let me know. Before you get to excited, this is an original Banksy, however it is a back door print that I picked up from the back door Brummie.
When I first got it, it was in terrible condition, sort of mounted with very sticky double sided tape, with quite a few creases. I've had it professionally repair & mounted & framed.'
A backdoor print is not worth more than you want to pay for an image as it is... one that is this trashed is worth even less. Save your money toward a numbered, authentic print... you will be happier and better off investment wise!

Fair do's Beef. I really would avoid though. His claim about the number of watchers may also be phoney. That said, since your post, I'm watching it now to see what it eventually sells for. It amazes what people are preapred to pay.
