UK v USA - who 'wins', by a4mnt on Jul 29, 2007 9:12:56 GMT 1, Ok, if it comes down to a straight fight, based on quality of art, between USA and UK - who wins?
Lining up for the US : David Choe & Jose Parla etc
Lining up for the UK : Banksy & Antony Micallef etc
Forget that there's artistic differences......no highbrow shizzle, just a fun comment on who's winning your heart.
Its a hard one....i'm going to go away.....and think but I'm quite sure my heart is being pulled across the pond at the moment. Come on UK big boys, more releases please to turn heads back to UK (coming soon now thankfully).
In fact, maybe everyone can start lining up a list of how the sides stand.....
Just some Sunday fun. Its back to work again tomorrow

UK v USA - who 'wins', by Harveyn on Jul 29, 2007 12:06:57 GMT 1, My squad of hung pieces is looking like this.
UK - 16 (Micallef (3), Dface (3), Denning, Mantis, Insect, Pure Evil, Dillion (2), Baldwin, Copywright, Walker, Cauty) USA - 3 (Borf, Faile, Brookes) Europe - 1 (Richards (Micallefs sister)
And the winner is Dface with a very close 2nd place too Borf (followed by a tied 3rd place between Faile & Micallef). 2 each can be fairer than that.

UK v USA - who 'wins', by meatbag on Jul 29, 2007 12:14:19 GMT 1, i have more from the US but I wish it were the other way around at the moment. To much goodness across the way. The dollars is so dam weak and then add in potential customs tax.... it's like losing at cards then getting kicked in the nutz by the dealor on your way out.

UK v USA - who 'wins', by mose on Jul 29, 2007 14:20:09 GMT 1, from 2003 - 2006, the UK was easily winning and its artists were, as a whole, producing work I found to be amazing. Now the momentum has shifted and the US is roaring back.

Tend to agree Mose. My problem seems to be finding the US galleries who are selling the artists that I would like to buy.

gent รacardi on Jul 29, 2007 20:50:08 GMT 1, Europe gets my vote. Purely personal preference, of course. I dunno why, but I tend to prefer things coming out of Europe (without consciously knowing where they're from), be it art or music or food. I must have been a European in my past life or something I guess reading Beano, Dandy, and Tintin while growing up didn't help much either!
