arty type books reccomendations, by misteraitch on Jul 26, 2007 9:10:09 GMT 1, I found 'The Art of Modern Rock' to be a pretty amazing book. It's basically takes a look at the band poster, and it features work by the likes of Tara McPherson and Shep etc.
about ยฃ45 but well worth it

arty type books reccomendations, by griffinj1980 on Jul 26, 2007 10:35:35 GMT 1, If you are looking for design stuff I like the 'Innovation in... series' by Charlotte Rivers (covers magazines, posters etc) is a good point of reference. Also anything by Adrian Shaugnessy is worth picking up, he's seen it all and can articulate his ideas about design.
Street art wise the Scrawl collective series 'dirty graphics and strange characters' is a must and kind of leads into where we are not with the street art x fine art crossover. I also love the book Ben Drury did with Futura 2000 even if it is a bit unreadable. Sarah Morris is also a good artist to get a book on, her work is tip top, as is the work of David Reed (http://www.davidreedstudio.com/horizontal.html) though I am not sure if he as any books out at present. Matthew Collings is also a good read for getting an introduction into Modern Art as he writes in bitesize chunks. I've heard Bonafide magazine is a good read too... shameless plug over.
Away from books but onto prints following on from Misterhaitchs recommendation if any of you are after a good rock poster this place has an amazing variety. This is one of my favs
