On a lighter note.

I had a guy round our flat trying to do a bit of decorating.
Turns out he was an art student before becoming a decorator.
Said he did it in Bristol. The conversation turned to Banksy
for some reason... might have been pictures on the walls..
he said he thought Bristol a great place to study and that
he'd met Banksy a couple of times.

I thought yeah right - didn't you pick up any canvases then !
- couldn't bring myself to ask

Anyone met anyone who has met or thought they'd met this
elusive nocturnal worker (or any of his purported operatives i hear there's a few of them )..

am sure there's plenty of stories out there - waiting to be told

My estate agent saw my Napalm on the wall when measuring up and said he used to go to school with Banksy (this is in Bristol btw).He apparently used to get thrown out of lessons a lot and to ‘cool off’ was sent to the art classroom when he happily spent most of his time. I know what you’re thinking, an estate agent telling the truth pah! He seemed genuine though.

A guy that i was trying to buy some prints from said that his girlfriend use to go out with banksy - this guy had a huge collection of prints and i remember thinking the last artist i would collect is the one that use to kn*b my mrs!! although he did say his mrs had a few original canvases so maybe that would make up for it!! ;D

Hi

We have received your email for the Banksy street show on 30/05/02.

The show is open to everyone apart from the Old Bill.

The location is in the centre of London and accessible by tube etc.

There will be a email sent to you at midday on the day of the event with a map and directions.

If your travelling from outside of London and can’t receive the email, the location will be placed on
the web site www.banksy.co.uk and the following stores : Rough Trade / Magma / Mr.Bongo.

The show will start about 6PM and go on till it get’s painted over.

I too don't care to see pics of the man... It's all gossip and speculation anyway.



I couldn't get out of work to see the street show and have always regreted not making the effort.... any images of the mans work from back then would be appreciated.

I just want to know what i missed..... Anyone???

The Mystery is everything.

Ive seen a few images that claim to feature the man in question -
variously:-

1) the guy looks about 14
2) The guy looks like a tramp
3) the guy looks like a Islington dwelling, Guardian reading, Latte swilling* upper class dude

None of the above scenarios float my boat, I want my artists tortured, insanely intelligent, and beautiful (again, in a tortued, chiselled way - kind of like the Heroin addict future predictor artist in Heroes) anything else is just not cricket.

Edition size is based on how many I can flog in the next 24 (hours, months, years), so if yer lucky you get an original.. errm copy. If not, you get what we in the trade call a poster. If I sell more than 20, then we'll do a few more colourways. (If I can find the cmyk button on the photocopier).

He's easy to spot outside of Bristol as all Bristolians are naturally, stunningly, drop dead gorgeous. That's why all the London glitterati and media darlings keep moving up here. Even Johnny Depp bought a place down the road and couldn't bring himself to move actually IN to the beautiful city. Too much competition. So if you're in a London gallery and there's a chisel-jawed, six pack sporting love beast next to you, be careful - it could be BANKSY. Or Nick Walker, or GHOSTBOY, or Motorboy or one of the other Bristol bunch ;-)...
