INSURANCE ??, by bond on Aug 6, 2007 16:18:33 GMT 1, HI All
I know this has been discussed many times before but here goes again !
My insurance is due and it's about time i put my prints on the policy.
In most people's experience is it cheaper to have a separate policy with a specialist ( if so who ? ) or can any of you kind souls recommend a good company that is not going to make me personally pay for the flood damage in the U.K !
Thanks in advance.

INSURANCE ??, by manchestermike on Aug 6, 2007 16:29:15 GMT 1, We'll all pay for the flood damage
What I don't get is why we all have to pay for that, yet if I live in a dodgy area the cost of my car insurance isn't spread over everyone
Bah

INSURANCE ??, by Andy'77 on Aug 6, 2007 17:31:01 GMT 1, I've just put mine on the normal house insurance with Abbey and included accidental damage incase a frame falls off the wall. Wasn't too expensive really.
Had to give details of anything worth over ยฃ1000 which made it fun trying to explain some of the prints to the girl on the phone: it's a picture of some angels on a cloud and they've all got machine guns or it's a picture of two grannies knitting jumpers.

trust me you're paying it through your normal policy. my dad was in the insurance business and they definitely get theirs. the commissions on the premiums are more than flipping neates!

INSURANCE ??, by mcnuts on Aug 6, 2007 17:53:18 GMT 1, I am looking into this at the moment and contacted Hiscox's but have been told it will be much cheaper insuring my prints as itemised items on my ordinary household policy. However I have been told to keep the valuation up to date. Difficult in this climate but I suppose you have to just keep looking at the values every 3 to 4 months and if there are any really big jumps in amend prices accordingly.
whats wrong with your eye?

INSURANCE ??, by Harveyn on Aug 6, 2007 18:03:50 GMT 1, I used Lloyds for contents insurance with additional accidental damage. They cover any unnamed item up to ยฃ8k and to a maximium of a 3rd of the total contents coverage. For instance ยฃ90k contents coverage gets you ยฃ30k coverage on items that are classified as high risk. So if they deem you art accessible from a theft perspective your covered up to ยฃ30k otherwise you have coverage up to ยฃ90k. Sgould cost you ยฃ25 to ยฃ30 a month.

INSURANCE ??, by bond on Aug 7, 2007 22:37:56 GMT 1, One last question .
I apparently need to produce a valuation. Admittedly i've not asked the insurance co what format they need but was wondering in people's experience has anyone had to do the same thing ? and if so what did you do ?
thanks again !
