Agreed. In the first place, their philosophy was always about making art accessible to everybody, not just the high-brow people with the big bucks. The whole 'limited edition' concept just ruins everything IMO. "Oh, I want to allow everyone to enjoy my art, my ideas, and messages... but only 50 of you can do that." WTF??

Although, I wouldn't go as far as 10,000! Perhaps 1,000 would be good enough, like what they did for Flag. Because of the size, even secondary market prices tend to be more affordable compared to the smaller editions. Best of both worlds if you ask me.

But then again, what do I know?

Why not just go the whole hog and release unlimited then?

If the whole thing with his work is that is should be available for all to see, as its supposed to be on the streets, then make it available for all?

Because the people who really call the shots wouldn't be able to afford their mortgages. It's a f*ckin business whether we like it or not and the editions are about manipulating the market that exists at our level.

I think the way forward with Banksy releases is to ACTUALLY RELEASE THEM ;D come on POW all LA prints should have been released before Christmas 2006!

How on earth are POW going to release a run of 10,000 they can't release in batches of 650!

even an edition of 1000 would b nowhere near enough

look at morons, edition of 500 unsigned, 150 signed, and 300 sepia = 950 prints which still caused the server 2 crash and most people missed out

Flag was 1000 run sold for £100 and has been selling on ebay for around £700 +

and flags was only sold in london so u had 2 b available to go down on the day

when they go up on POW, they will b available 2 the whole world, and i'd imagen they'd b alot of new fans from america now

Yep, I doubt very much the people involved would be that interested in running a poster shop, and the more people that get clued up on how this scene works, the better.

sure it would be nice if everyone could get a print, but lets be real. 650 prints is already a huge run. The print shop can't possibly keep up the quality of the work with edition sizes getting bigger and bigger. Plus, its nice to have a piece from a small edition. Thats what makes everyone feel special. Lets thank our lucky stars that the runs are as big as they are. What id POW were still printing runs of 75 or 150? No one would be able to get a print...

If you you like the image - buy it. Who cares if it's 1 of 1 or 1 of 10000000000000.

(saying that I like the smaller runs better!!)
