JD For Sale & Girlfriends and their influence..., by sanchorockin78 on Mar 19, 2007 17:07:48 GMT 1, I am selling my gorgeous Judgment Day on the bay, I hope it gets snapped up by someone from this or the AM forum who will frame this beauty.
On another note, I am selling this print to begin the long and painful slog of saving for a Micallef 21st Century Love print..the other half does not seem to want the JD on the walls because it's too big and she doesn't care for cherubs with rocket launchers ! Do many people here have the problem of buying prints and their suitability for hanging in a girl friendly environment?, I know my Napalm doesn't go down well with the Mrs in terms of aesthetics!.

you're not alone.... problem is, the missus aint to happy with the amount of cash being splashed by me and so i have to buy prints that she'll as least like, otherwise it causes too much grief... it ain't about being under the thumb, it's about compromise (at least that what i tell myself ) am having to sell my dead rebels coz the ball and chain doesn't think they're 'appropriate'

JD For Sale & Girlfriends and their influence..., by mcnuts on Mar 19, 2007 17:43:37 GMT 1, my mrs has great taste. she loves banksy (though we only have an unsigned applause) and is open to more. She likes DB and some (though not all) Faile. I sold my Friendly Fire as it would never be allowed up though I still have - for the moment - an unframed JD.
It does come down to spending money on prints. So, at the end of the day I have to make it an enterprise that doesn't break the bank which can involve trading up and selling up prints

I'm sure she'd prefer that you looked at art than *other* things that are available on the internet!! (ahem)

JD For Sale & Girlfriends and their influence..., by corblimeylimey on Mar 19, 2007 18:47:31 GMT 1, Mrs Corblimeylimey really loves the Banksy's her favourite that I've got is the Flag print (I'm being nagged to get it framed) and also she loves Blek's Tango but the same cannot be said for Bleks TMWWTW (that's demoted to my office).
As for Kwan by Amp she say's she doesn't hate it but it won't be able to have pride of place.
Altogether I can't complain too much, but I do have to put up with a few Marilyn Monroe photo's & art of hers about the house.

JD For Sale & Girlfriends and their influence..., by Ågent ßacardi on Mar 19, 2007 18:59:50 GMT 1, My ex used to grumble about all the Banksys I have hanging all over the place. She nagged and nagged at first, but I just completely ignored her. After a while she just faced the futility of her nagging and just stopped.
Ex: "That Napalm looks hideous! What will our guests think?" Me: (Silence, pretending not to hear) Ex: "That Virgin Mary is so offensive! Aren't you worried that you might offend our guests?" Me: (Watches TV) "Oh look, there's a sale at Macy's this weekend" Ex: "WHERE?? WHAT TIME???"
And all my Banksys stay right where they are

JD For Sale & Girlfriends and their influence..., by goffy on Mar 20, 2007 3:10:47 GMT 1, When we bought our house 3 years ago my wife decided we would have/decorate a living room each. Hers is more of a chill out room over looking the garden, where she can go and get peace away from me! Mine has a photograph by Richard Heeps, Save My Soul, with Angel Bomber 1 and 2 either side of it. 2 Banksys, Jamie Reid's Damn them All and a Large Patrick Litchfield Photograph of Pele in a Brazil kit doing a over-head kick. She spends most of the time in my room. Fortunately, all of the prints I have bought have increased in value. Therefore she now accepts my little hobbie as she and thinks I am a wise investor in art. When really it is just down to dumb luck.

You have converted her! Good job!! ;D Oh, I forgot to mention another annoying thing about my ex: Everytime I receive a new print, she would go "I could do that for less than $10. That's not art." Bugged the crap out of me every single time.

... unless it's "Error System"! ;D LOL!!!
Her idea of art was Anne Geddes baby photos. I mean, it's very nice and all, but way too girlish and sappy and - dare I say it - cheesy for me.
And this is the same girl who said that a 2-year-old could paint better than Kandinsky. There was absolutely no use trying to reason with her. Good riddance!!

JD For Sale & Girlfriends and their influence..., by slowmo on Mar 20, 2007 11:01:20 GMT 1, Actually Agent, she was right, Kandinsky by his own admission was not very good at painting. But I suspect that was not what she meant.
I love Kandinksy, if anyone lives in London, go to the Courtauld Gallery at Somerset House, as they have a few there to look at, as well a lot of amazing classic work from the old masters, Van Gogh, Matisse, Gaugain, Rubens, Monet, Manet, Rembrandt etc. If you like that sort of thing. if not, no worries
