I did email her originally when she first started listing the annsky thing, and advised her to sign up to this forum to see the genral feeling about people trying to get hits/sales off the back of Banksy, she said that she would and that she had considered changing the listing.
This was all before LA madness though, and she said that listing without Banksy beforehand got her no hits or interest. I think it is a shame as it's quite nice work, and doesnt need to tag on the back of his name to stand out, the self portraits she did were a good idea, where you send a picture off and she sends you back a stenciled canvas version of it. You can also ask her not to tag it if you want.

Annksy - wtf, by gbh on Nov 8, 2006 0:14:01 GMT 1, not that it counts, but IMHO I don't care if she used banksy in her auction listing to draw hits or align herself with a "style", but the rip off tag is a bit much isn't?

Annksy - wtf, by pastiepie on Nov 8, 2006 1:05:13 GMT 1, I thnk her stencil work is better than average, of course due to the subject matter she chooses to depict it's missing that Banksy sense of sattire. I don't know why people feel the need to add some kind of reference to Banksy to anything that is remotely linked to stencils or spraypainting. It would be like anyone who painted in watercolour tagging their paintings "money" and adding "like Monet" in their ebay listings. But as you say if it generates otherwise unfound interest using the tag Annsky then i guess it is a good reason to do it. I just think that by doing so you give up any chance of obtaining artistic credibility.

Somehow I don't think she's very interested in artistic credibility.

Annksy - wtf, by Ågent ßacardi on Nov 8, 2006 4:11:19 GMT 1, I think it's a rip-off, plain and simple. It should be a crime against art! To me, it's no different than Peg Enstwhistle (or however the hell you spell it) on eBay putting the words "Hanky Panky" on an image of Kissing Coppers and selling it as "original limited edition art". And no, it wasn't "inspired", it was downright theft of intellectual property!
The image and stencil work may be good, but the whole "annksy" thing just puts me off.
