Grin Reaper / CND, by HowAboutNo on Aug 31, 2006 12:08:40 GMT 1, I got a second chance offer for this, hoping someone can advise.... This was the mail I got :
Dear howaboutno31 You expressed interest in an item titled "SIGNED BANKSY GRIN REAPER LTD EDITION PRINT" (Item# 190018110911) by bidding, however the auction has ended with another member as the high bidder. In compliance with eBay policy, the seller, is making this Second Chance Offer to you at your bid price of GBP ***.00. The seller has issued this Second Chance Offer because he has duplicate items for sale or the winning bidder was unable to complete the transaction. If you accept this offer, you will be able to exchange Feedback with the seller and will be eligible for eBay services associated with a transaction, such as fraud protection.
To purchase this item reply the seller: aacouk_1@hotmail.com
Both the seller and the buyer are no longered registered. Shall I just give up, or is it still worth pursuing? Dont know how to spot the dodgy ones! Want this one too cos its an earlier number and dated 05

Grin Reaper / CND, by mido on Aug 31, 2006 12:45:56 GMT 1, I'm always VERY wary of ANY 2nd chance offers,
forget (for a moment) the possibilities of fraud, what about shill bidding? If a person genuinely has two copies that of course is not fraudulent (although there is also the issue of 'would the price of have been lower if the bidders knew there were 2 copies around...' - I have often refused 2nd chance offers on cauty's and suggested they relist it and let the market decide what the true value is) but it could also be a sign of shill bidding (i.e. the 'highest' bidder mysteriously doesn't buy it, it's offered to you, and you realise that you and the 'highest' bidder were the only two really bidding serious cash)
Ok, the issue of it maybe being scam.
yes, it could be. My rule of thumb....
- if it comes via my email only (i.e. not also via ebay message box) then I don't touch it with a bargepole - if it also comes via ebay, it is more to be trusted but could still be dodgy...
caveat emptor - buyer beware!

dodgy unless the 2nd chance comes from ebay mail, stay well away from this one ! especially if they're no longer registered.
