This is a right mix up, pre dates POW stamp & number
medium - Giclee???
Legs chopped off and no blue background
Wrinkled by the looks of it & the size is wrong
Would you bid over £400 for it?
Who wants to phone Alex on 07971-861231 and ask some questions?
It's a gift from Banksy apparently.

What's Going On Here? Riot Cop, by tomhills1 on Feb 25, 2007 21:21:06 GMT 1, not the first time "alex" (friend of jon carter) has listed a gift on the bay. wish to god i had saved the details of the previous outing, suffice to say he was using his "friend's" account to sell it for no reason whatsoever as well. irrespective of my lack of evidence relating to the earlier "sale", avoid this one like the plague. when you combine the factors that CBL has listed with his previous showing, well you can't get far enough away from this chancer. it's rare because it's dink. beware, beware, beware.

What's Going On Here? Riot Cop, by corblimeylimey on Feb 27, 2007 11:31:26 GMT 1, Well you never know, the story could be true and it could be part of the Turf Wars show, but I doubt it. They say it's a giclee. Posting it here to make people aware, and possibly get some more info from people who may know better, I'm surprised this thread hasn't had more feedback.

Riot Cop, by tomhills1 on Feb 27, 2007 21:01:03 GMT 1, hankpank you're a genius. this seller may be kosher but something doesn't add up. in the laugh now he says he is a luddite with no ebay account blah blah using his friend's blah blah. now this is dated 20th jan 2007. as mattf100 he has been registered since jan 04. ambiguous, inconsistent and hard to believe, why lie?

What's Going On Here? Riot Cop, by dotdot on Mar 2, 2007 18:10:49 GMT 1, Just a quick comment people.
I've met this guy - he's totally ok...
Call him up - I bought a print from him a while back.
He actually came round my house to drop it off too - I'm as pragmatic as the next cautious buyer believe me - ...
..cheers

What's Going On Here? Riot Cop, by corblimeylimey on Mar 2, 2007 20:37:18 GMT 1, There is now lots of answered questions on this listing, the price is shooting up, it appears it's a one off spray job!
It's a shame all this wasn't mentioned in the first place, it was listed as a giclee, then told rabbitlegs it was a screenprint.
Beware of the first question in the list, if you copy and paste that link you will be asked for your username and sign in details, (I was already logged in) I'm stopped myself just in time. I checked the item out by searching the number and it's a hi fi amp which is for sale in the US. I may be too wary, but I guess there's no harm in that.

What's Going On Here? Riot Cop, by tomhills1 on Mar 3, 2007 0:53:01 GMT 1, no offence old boy, it's all well and good you saying he's genuine but how do explain all the discrepancies? i'm sure most armed robbers are good lads, just got in with the wrong crowd etc, just look at the evidence. it seems like one incidental after another. add them all up and you've got a reet shifty case on your hands, IMO

What's Going On Here? Riot Cop, by hungrig on Mar 3, 2007 2:32:46 GMT 1, "it's rare because it's dink" "another load of crap for sale" "STAY AWAY"
With the number of fakes and 'tributes' about, a certain amount of caution in this market is always healthy. However, I would be wary of making such categoric statements. Your ignorance of Banksy's works betrays you, and it is unwise to shoot something down simply because one has not seen it before.
Inconsistencies in the listing details, perhaps, though this was really just a misdescription. It wasn't a screenprint, it was actually an original on cartridge paper. Hand-sprayed and hand painted. I didn't buy it because I didn't have enough cash, but it was the real deal and I would have loved to have owned it. Some dealer is creaming himself tonight. I suspect we will see it up for sale again shortly.

What's Going On Here? Riot Cop, by tomhills1 on Mar 3, 2007 11:24:56 GMT 1, that's all well and good but without documentation and/or tracability it is only worth a fraction of what it otherwise would be. fact.
given enough time and skill i'm sure some reasonable artists could come up with some very plausable copies. have a look on p29 of get your banksy's out for the lads and see what rabbitlegs has done.
you could be right and at the risk of repeating myself, i wouldn't take the risk on some "rare" original unless i could trace where it came from. all that cloak and dagger business? well, if you treat people like idiots then it usually says something about that seller. he could be a luddite, may be ignorant to what satisfies peoples suspicions etc. all the ambiguity just smacks of a dodgy character.
how do you suggest buying from a chap like this? if in the future someone came on to the market professing to have some one off that he sat there and watched banksy do while they were getting drunk or whatever. banksy even individualised it by using a different medium, but without tracing it back to the original source what do you do?
you ask the seller some questions, request more photos, perhaps some specific details about himself as well as the art. now, if you're satisfied with the replies and are comfortable to pay what is asked, you have a sale, if not you don't.
in regards to this item, i think the lack in forthcoming information is reflected in peoples comments on this subject throughout this thread. no confidence whatsoever.
