Very nice!! I think a black mount definitely works best with this print. However, is it just incidental lighting at the top of the print, or has it started to ripple already?
A couple of my prints have started to ripple in their frames, and I'm freaking out

Does look good actually.
Is that a deep fryer on the left or a massive bread compartment?

Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by danvnuk on Dec 22, 2006 2:08:43 GMT 1, danv - congrats on the print and nice framing. did you photgraph that in the nude?
What a strange question.
If you must know I photographed it dressed as I normally dress for taking photos.
Wearing a crotchless Elvis Presley style jumpsuit sans underwear - The Neighbours opposite love it.
Of course Im not in the nude - what do you think I am so kind of deviant? Don't answer that.
Im wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Call me strange, but I like to do my photographing clothed.
Am I nude? is that a Deep Fat Fryer? is the print that boring? lol

A couple of my prints have started to ripple in their frames, and I'm freaking out
Don't worry about that slight ripple, when I took my J&J (which was framed by someone else) to my framers so they could match the frame for my Grannies print I pointed out the slight rippling on the top edge and she said that was perfectly normal and that it could happen to my Grannies print too. She said don't let anyone else tell me otherwise, if it was completly flat it would show that it had been taped or glued across the whole top edge which wouldn't be up to conservation standard.
Hope that puts you at ease agentbacardi.

Phew! Thanks cor!!! Didn't know this was a such a common problem. Was just afraid that with time, the prints would stay ripply even if taken out of the frame. Y'know, like if you spill water on a piece of paper it'll ripple, but after it dries, it'll be stuck in that 'ripply' mode? Certainly don't want that to happen to my precious prints!
The ripples are not visible under certain lighting, but during the day when a little daylight comes in through the window that's perpendicularly on the left of the pictures, the ripples are clearly visible. So if it's framed to conservation standard, does that mean that they'll never display perfectly? They don't look so hot with the ripples

I'm gonna sound so dumb... but I don't know how to take it out of the frame without damaging the frame It was professionally framed, and it looks like it's sealed across the back, with a board-thingy. Certainly nothing like those store-bought frames where it's easy to open and close repeatedly. Don't want to damage it, just 'cos I've given so much money to my framer and don't wanna pay even more to fix it!

Haha! HowAboutNo told me that it's due to moisture/temperature changes... prints 'breathe' like wood (after all, paper is made from wood, huh!), and this is what happens. The weather's been getting very crazy here in Los Angeles, it was all nice and mild last week, but it's been freezing this week. The temperature's in the single digits (Celcius) at night, but warms up considerably during the day.
It's a relief that it's normal (thanks cosmic!), but it's just not very pretty to look at, y'know? What do people on here do with that problem? Just live with it I guess?

gentรacardi check out my J&J back on page 5, if you look at the top edge in the middle you'll see a slight shadow caused by the ripple and another further to the right it's not too bad. Is yours very bad or just the same? if it's the same don't worry, if it's much worse you may have damp issues, but compared to our very cold damp foggy England I'd be surprised.

Yeah, I see it! It's about the same alright! Yeah, I don't think it's dampness issues, because the humidity here in LA is nothing compared to England, where it seems to be rainy all the time. The weird thing though, is that my Napalm & J&J are the only ones that are 'suffering' from this. My Virgin Mary and my Dolk Burger King aren't. They're all on the same wall, so it appears as if the landscape-oriented ones are rippling while the portrait-oriented ones aren't. Quite a coincidence. Also gets me wondering... if my Virgin Mary and Burger King aren't rippling, does it mean it's not conservation standard? They were all framed by the same guy... gawd, I worry too much

Mr Bacardi... don't worry yourself mate! You'll end up a jibbering wreck!
I think the rippling comes from the thickness of the ink and the way it reacts to the temperature compared to the paper it's attached to. I have always noticed that pulp fiction is the worst... heavy thick ink covering the whole image?
This would make sense, as the others you mention, J&J, Napalm etc are all the same.... ink covers the entire image
oh bollox....
... ive just realised, the other prints you mention also have ink over the whole rectanular image... forget that theory...
... but still dont worry
Hmm back the drawing board!>
