Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by irl1 on Jun 5, 2021 21:05:22 GMT 1, Matt Lambert, intrusive #16, edition of 50: Nicely executed. I'd never previously heard of of Matt Lambert. But he should also be wary of the risk of coming across as a pastiche artist. The influences here are arguably too obvious: Frank Auerbach, Francis Bacon, possibly Gerhard Richter to some extent, and (from a more recent generation) Antony Micallef of course. This portrait does however resonate with me, because I too hate non-pure-blood wizards. Matt sells a lot of his art on catawiki, has done for years

Thank you for the link.
After clicking and having a scan, what's unfortunate is that โ despite his different styles and obvious technical skills โ such a large proportion of Matt Lambert's work reminds me of other artists.
The ones that immediately come to mind are Micallef (yet again), Brett Amory, Ian Francis, Charming Baker, Sage Vaughn, Dale Grimshaw, and even Sandra "ruddy" Chevrier.

Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by mrizzle on Jun 8, 2021 16:52:13 GMT 1, Not so much a latest buy as just back from MFM but Iโm really happy with how they both turned out. Both are full conservation spec and below museum glass.
The Paul Insect is mounted on foam to give the effect of it floating and matted to really emphasise shape of the print. I did look into the cost of a round frame but, frankly, it was eye watering for the size of the print. I am really happy with it though. The frame is high gloss silver to compliment the glitter but hard to take a picture without capturing my reflection.

Itโs an AP with a bit of damage (I think Peter used it for a coffee table - haha) but I know people who pay a lot for that level of โhand finishingโ!
(last one for today, but this was also framed by MFM)
