SHEPARD FAIREY PRICE CHECK, by jojo21 on Mar 26, 2011 6:23:11 GMT 1, hi guys i have 4 "original" pieces by shepard and i would like to have an idea of what you think is the current market price. i mean not for us people of the forum who know where to get the best price for all the artists that we are following. just a regular price for a new comer who wants to have a fairey in his living room.
so they are the following.
Ankara Stencil on collage paper, 30x44 Ataturk HPM on 20, 30x44 High time for peace, stencil on collage paper, 30x44 mandala ornament red, HPM on 5
thanks for your thoughts.
cheers.

So where do these people come from, they want Shep OG's, but don't understand market pricing? Just take a price you think someone in the know would pay and then add a percentage and you have your price
The two ways to maximise the price you get is to set up a gallery, preferably in an affluent area, slap up a stupid price and wait for the banking bonuses. Alternatively do your research and find an appropriate auction to put them in. Sometimes if there are a couple of people who really want a piece you can make a high end price.

J, nice collection. I enquired about the prices for these a few weeks back and I think your prices are too high but that is just my opinion.
Mandala HPM was $10k at source only a few months back. I would put secondary at $15k and I know of at least one gallery selling at this price.
On the Ataturk HPM something similar.
On the two stencils I would say both are strong images (always important with Sheps work) and I reckon the secondary market value on these to be around $25k.

SHEPARD FAIREY PRICE CHECK, by mattgold on Mar 26, 2011 14:27:10 GMT 1, I'd say Harveyn's prices are a bit generous, especially for pieces on the private market. Galleries tend to list at a bit more, with the expectation of some downward negotiation... but even so, I would be very surprised to see an Ankara/Ataturk stencil go for $20K+.
But yes, nice collection. Consider contacting a gallery and see about consignment. Perhaps a Turkish art gallery. =)

Francis an interesting view but I am guessing you are not a fan. Primary price on the HPM Ornament was $10k and they only sell at higher secondary. I guess you made your point.

SHEPARD FAIREY PRICE CHECK, by Harveyn on Mar 26, 2011 21:07:31 GMT 1, One thing I would add to this thread and maybe that was the point you were making Francis. It does not sit very well with me a gallery coming on and asking how much it should try and get away with charging it's customers.
If you do not know the market you are probably in the wrong business.
