Roa π§πͺ Street Artist β’ Animals & Birds β’ Art For Sale, by k2 on Feb 26, 2018 14:37:03 GMT 1, I don't normally have any idea on pricing for work mentioned on this forum, but I'm slightly obsessed with ROA works on paper, am lucky enough to own a few, and am always looking for other works that might be available.
To be entirely transparent, I own a piece of similar size, from the same show as this piece, and it's fabulous. I'm not aware of another series of works on paper of this size or level of detail. If I thought I could buy this piece for Β£4k, or $7k, I would be straight on it. But realistically, it's worth a fair bit more than I can afford at the moment.
Works sized in the range of 56x76cm (or thereabouts) are slightly more plentiful. Good examples of works of that size will sell quickly at Β£6000. A gallery in Amsterdam is currently offering one at 7000 Euros, but it's an older piece without the same level of detail, and as a result is still unsold. Another more recent and more detailed piece was sold in the last month for 7000 Euros.
This piece is huge, massively detailed, and extremely wall-friendly. If this piece was offered by a gallery, it would certainly be offered at a minimum of 10000 Euros, if not a fair bit more. If I were in a position to buy, and could do so for Β£8000, I would be happy with the outcome. But if I owned this it would take more to make me sell it.
While in theory it is in my interest for ROA's prices to rise, as they definitely have been (the pricing from the recent show in Belgium was entirely out of reach for mortals like me) - I'm currently looking to buy rather than sell, and while I'd love to buy this, the reality is that this piece is worth more than I can afford.
It will be interesting to see what's available in the upcoming Vertical show - whether it'll all be mega-huge and expensive works on panel as per the show in Belgium, or whether there will be more 'affordable' works on smaller objects or paper available. As of right now, this is the finest ROA work on paper that's currently available for sale (if I'm wrong, please do let me know!), and I'm sure it won't be sold for a bargain price.
Good luck with the sale of this beauty!

Someone needs to buy up the works at Pure Evil Gallery and Stolenspace as they are a fraction of these quoted prices. I do agree that there is a huge disparity in his prices but I am not sure what is driving that.
I would add this work is absolutely stunning and that in itself would drive a premium.
The price jump primary from when these works were sold and the most recent show still remains unexplained IMO.

Definitely agree that there are some cheaper works available.
Having said that, I've seen the Pure Evil works and there's no comparison to this one. I'm not particularly keen on the collage-style pieces, although I do quite like the Deer Hunter Box they had, but the drawings on maps etc they have aren't really to my taste. There's another piece that's been sitting unsold on eBay for ever at around Β£6000, but again it's quite an odd thing and doesn't appeal to me massively.
Some of the other pieces, and (most of) those at Stolen Space are great, but huge in 3 dimensions, and not necessarily easy to display or enjoy in a typical home.
I can't pretend to have any real understanding of the market, or what makes prices what they are, but can only offer input based on my recent experiences. I'd love it if works of this size and quality were available under Β£5k but I've not seen any, and I do spend a good amount of time looking and sending out enquiries. More than happy to be corrected though!
Hoping that the show at Vertical will have pieces to suit a range of budgets - they seem to be quite good at that.

Roa π§πͺ Street Artist β’ Animals & Birds β’ Art For Sale, by aml on Feb 26, 2018 16:11:47 GMT 1, Thanks for the interest, folks. Will get back to everyone later this evening (EST time).
Harveyn -- feel free to share the pieces available at either gallery. From what I've seen, what's sitting has been sitting for a reason...
As for pricing, the cost from the show for this piece was Β£4.7K, then it needed to be shipped and then it needed a frame around it. Given the popularity of the artist and the scarce availability of quality works, I'm not particularly interested in losing money to sell the piece.

Sorry I probably should not have posted as I had expressed an interested in the work. I am certainly not suggesting you should loose money on this piece and to be honest I thought the primary was less than that but clearly I was wrong.
I did state that this is a stunning example and my comments were based on thoughts that this work was Β£8k+ which IMO seems on the high side.
I agree that the works have been sitting at PE and SS not selling but they are quite attractive in my eyes and appear good value compared to his recent show.

Roa π§πͺ Street Artist β’ Animals & Birds β’ Art For Sale, by tech on Mar 20, 2018 21:51:02 GMT 1, His mural here in Cincinnati OH created for Blink Cincinnati. Super nice guy I got to assist with him at the mural for about 5 or so days back in November of last year. I believe he has a solo show sometime this year up in Chicago and mentioned to me about a book he hopes to release soon of all his recorded street work which would be amazing.

I offered it then but as I have always said Iβm in no hurry to sell
And would only sell if someone offered me something to tempt me to sell.
Never been tempted.
I get a few emails every now and again. Just wanted to share some jokers offers
I couldnβt care less if itβs been for sale since then.
I also donβt need to sell it to pay for a new piece of street art thatβs hyped on here.
So thanx for your concern, your concern is not mine

Roa π§πͺ Street Artist β’ Animals & Birds β’ Art For Sale, by k2 on Aug 14, 2018 11:21:56 GMT 1, I'm not surprised this hasn't been mentioned on here yet as there won't be a print to flip or argue about, but personally I'm very excited for this one. Having been lucky to travel to a number of his shows, the Stolenspace installations are still up there with the best. Looking forward to seeing what he does this time around.
Details below:
It is with great excitement that StolenSpace Gallery presents the new solo showcase by Belgian artist, ROA.
Peering from secluded alleyways, or creeping across crumbing walls, ROAβs monochromatic beasts can be found hiding across the cities of t he world, from London, Berlin to New York, Los Angeles and recently Casablanca and Cape Town. ROAβs reputation as a master muralist has grown exponentially, and his gallery works are no less impressive to behold.
Portraying animals on a massive scale and in stark contrast to their urban surroundings, their black and white appearance giving them a ghostlike presence. ROAβs intention is to query the relationship between man and animal, the urban relationship with nature and the manner in which we force it to adapt for survival, choosing remote and derelict locations to mirror our own unsympathetic treatment of the natural world and the creatures which inhabit it.
Now returning to StolenSpace for his third takeover of the gallery, ROA will be creating on site a fresh cohort of Bestia Animalibus, using reclaimed materials to create multi-dimensional, interactive works of art to beautifully illustrate the precarious connection between man and beast.
