Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by confused2 on Apr 11, 2012 21:31:55 GMT 1, The one that sold at Bonhams recently was unsigned and sold for 8k I think.
I'd say 5.5/ 6k for an unsigned would be about right for a private deal.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by gorkie on Apr 19, 2012 0:03:58 GMT 1, What would it cost to get one of these currently?
Are some of these stamped with Banksy's signature and some of them have an actual written signature or ??
I am talking about the basic print here. Not the ones with graffiti on them. Speaking of the ones with graffiti, how many of those were done and are they from the original run of 250 also or
Thanks

Wasn't going to buy anyway, but interesting non the less.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by daveart on Apr 24, 2012 14:38:16 GMT 1, has rude copper always had such a huge premium to the other unsigned editions? just going on some averages lets say most unsigned are at 1.x K GGP and RC is at 6K GBP. basically putting it up with the signed editions of the other older images. so is this a relatively new premium or has it always been there and i am the last to know?

I'd estimate the the u/s has steadily risen over the last few years, so not new but a more steady creep upwards than most other pieces.
As to why. Well it was available cheap early on, it's a relatively small edition and it's difficult to come by one that's in good nick.

Spot on DD.
I think mine was £30 when purchased from Tom Tom - not by me might I add! Edition of 250, Banksy's first print, and due to the initial purchase price more than a few probably ended up stapled to notice boards or were Blu Tacked up on a wall.

Agree with those reasons, but also because it's such a classic image imo. It's an image that never fails to bring a smile to my face.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by craigf on Apr 24, 2012 15:23:35 GMT 1, One sold at Bonhams a few weeks back as well so will help re pricing. One sold about 18 months ago for circa £7.5k and that seems to have moved the bar up to close to this level. You might get lucky, I bought a lovely one in the last 12 months for less, but still a substantial amount for an unsigned piece.
Absolutely love mine, looked for a number of years before finally snagging one

Best to communicate with the auction house directly on this I would say. That way nobody else is to blame.
I just wanted to point out that I saw this print with my own eyes and it is not "pristine" for sure.
Thanks

I'd be surprised if more than a couple of hundred of these including signed/hand-finished still actually exist.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by daveart on Apr 25, 2012 17:17:04 GMT 1, I posted this in the auction section as well. for anyone looking at the wright auction. i contacted them and they provided detailed photos of the print. including images of the splotches. Some are on the border and maybe forgivable. one though is right under the left eye (as you are looking at the print) in the white area and seems like it could be quite a distraction. If you are serious about bidding i would request the pictures .. not sure i should post them here. if you PM me your email i will forward the images i have.
My guess. at least two people in the world will not get these images and will bid this to $10,000 and be very surprised that this really should be listed as 'damaged' or something. i am not an expert on art terminology but to say this is in "Overall excellent condition." seems way off the mark.

It's carried a premium equivalent to many signed editions for a good few years now, it's hugely desirable for being the first edition, an iconic image and the fact so many have been lost/damaged/destroyed along the way. Wouldn't like to guess at percentages but I'd guess very few have been kept to museum standards, away from light and heat for their whole duration - thereby making what few good copies remain almost priceless.
