Wouldn't be surprised if these come back as large editions as well...

New OBEY HPM - Flag, by Karl Read on Jan 10, 2011 11:12:42 GMT 1, The flags are being sold privately, to big previous buyers i presume. The rest are going to galleries. Not sure which ones. The usual U.S based ones i guess. Prices im not sure, $30k maybe? There is also a 4flag canvas piece that was a comission.

I like to collect flags of all nations. In fact it is usually priority one for me to photograph the flag of any nation in which i visit. Just an obsession I guess, inexplicable to anyone who does not have it.

I feel almost the complete opposite. Why would an American want their flag on their wall? Don't they see it enough?
Actually though, I think these kinds of flag designs are supposed to be anti-America, or anti-establishment/capitalism (whilst, of course, charging a small fortune).
Like them loads. Would look nice next to my 2 Sides of Capitalism print!

interesting viewpoints made so far - but still not for me - i would prefer Sabers flag - but still doesnt compel me to buy one.

OK, I probably shouldn't, but here goes: Not all Americans are fat, racist, cowboy hat-wearing idiots, and you can love your country without always agreeing with its policies.

New OBEY HPM - Flag, by pcant on Jan 10, 2011 21:00:38 GMT 1, Very nice piece, thanks for the link. Believe me, I know my country has its share of problems, many self-inflicted, but there's a lot more to it than the stereotypes, just like there a whole lot more to the UK than tea, bowler hats and the Queen. Maybe some sort of outreach program (Pints, prints and politics?) is in order?

I'm from Canada, not the UK. I find it hilarious how into the flag Americans are.
A great American Howard Zinn said something to the effect of, there is no flag large enough to hide the shame of killing millions of Innocent people.
The American flag always reminds me of that sentiment. I think it is sad that so many people in the US get more upset with people burning the US flag than they do with their own government's acts of terrorism and illegal acts of aggression around the world.

New OBEY HPM - Flag, by pcant on Jan 10, 2011 22:10:28 GMT 1, Then you'll love this: Right-wing politicians get really bent out of shape when some protester burns the flag (How dare they!? It's symbol of freedom!!! and all that), but when flags are old and tattered, they are taken to American Legion halls (sort of a veterans organization) and they retire them ... by burning them.

I'm proud of a lot of things in my country. I'm also very critical of a lot of the policies and the general shift toward becoming more like the US.
I could care less if someone burns the Canadian flag. As long as they don't mess with our universal health care and all the other things that make Canada a great place to live.
There is a difference between love and blind devotion.
It would be great if all Americans would look at it as I love my country so I will be very critical of it and make it the best country it can be and stop it from destroying the rest of the world and itself.
But I'm not holding my breath.

so thank goodness everyone's not a fan of America - or else where would they all fit....
BTW - I believe the Canadian government enjoys the protection the American government provides it's country and it's people (including my aunts, uncles and cousins who reside there)...
