Paul Insect paste-ups need framing!!, by MGK1 on Aug 6, 2010 19:09:18 GMT 1, iv got three great paul insect paste-ups of his 'baby heads' in green, pink and purple. iv had them for a while but iv been too scared to put them up as they are made of very thin paper and could damage easily. Its definately time to get them framed, however, they measure 29" by 38" (ish) and framing them would be costly. firstly, can anyone tell me how i would go about framing them and where can i buy cheap frames/how much would they cost.

Paul Insect paste-ups need framing!!, by jusdeep on Aug 7, 2010 7:31:45 GMT 1, If you are talking about the paste-ups I would do exactly that, buy some 3mm board, you can get this is most larger hardware stores in large sizes. Paste it onto the board with wallpaper paste or similar and hang from the wall.
The other cheap option would be to buy a frame from Habitat for Β£45. This one goes up to 100 x 70cm and they are very good quality for the price. Obviously you would have to lose a little off the sides (I think they probably have a small white border anyway, or the ones I owned did). You could also add a mount yourself or get a framer to cut one for you, which wouldn't be expensive to have done. www.habitat.co.uk/fcp/product/browse/Wall-frame/956149

Paul Insect paste-ups need framing!!, by MGK1 on Aug 7, 2010 21:13:20 GMT 1, cheers for the link those frames look good, the only problem is, they are signed in the corners so i don't really want to give it the chop, also, do you think that if i pasted it onto a board i might have troble selling it on in the future, would it lose any value?

Paul Insect paste-ups need framing!!, by jusdeep on Aug 8, 2010 9:33:50 GMT 1, If they are signed I wouldn't paste them onto board as this will undoubtedly lower the price should you come to sell in the future. The main problem you will have is finding a cheap, ready-made frame in the size you require as most frames come in standard sizes. Probably the only cheap option you would have would be to try somewhere like www.eframe.co.uk/ depending on where you are based.
I did a check and it would cost you around Β£45 each for a simple black frame with standard perspex, without any mount or acid free backing board. I've used them before and they provide an easy to use option to which you can upload a picture of the item you are framing, swap frames, mounts, colours depending on taste.
Hope that helps
