Crazy Jake πΊπΈ Michael Jacob, by Michael Jacob on Sept 26, 2007 21:10:42 GMT 1, Let me first say THANKS for all who are supporting me in my desire to start printing. Im getting ready to do my first print... Wii... in an edition of 50. I have two sizes of paper to choose from. What size do you think will be better? Opinions are appreciated.
1. 22x30 inches, RIVES BFK, 250g white acid free paper
or...
2. 19x26 inches, RIVES Heavyweight Printmaking paper, 175g, cream acid free paper.
Im thinking option two, since its a little smaller, and possibly more manageable for my first couple of prints.
THANKS Crazy Jake

Crazy Jake πΊπΈ Michael Jacob, by orangematt on Sept 26, 2007 21:17:06 GMT 1, Hiya.. I would have thought that the size best used is gonna be dictated by the size of the image you are going to print surely !! I dont know alot about the paper itself but i suppose heavier isnt always better !!? But i do like the sound of the cream as oppose to the white ! Whats the image ? how much border will be showing ? that would dictate my final decision
All the best, MAtt.

Crazy Jake πΊπΈ Michael Jacob, by Daniel Silk on Sept 26, 2007 21:19:05 GMT 1, 19x26 inches for sure! ;D Much easier size for people to get framed would fit just nice in a 50x70cm frame.

Crazy Jake πΊπΈ Michael Jacob, by themightyreds on Sept 26, 2007 22:09:02 GMT 1, Against the grain on this thread but i'd go for the heavier stock of option 1 - the extra weight will help prevent any warping of the paper if the ink sits heavy... And you can always have it trimmed down manually to the 19x26 size.

Crazy Jake πΊπΈ Michael Jacob, by Michael Jacob on Oct 29, 2007 14:43:17 GMT 1, Well, what a gloomy day. Ive spent the last how many months spending countless hours trying to get trolleys. Maybe if Im lucky, Ill get a unsigned black and white. Anyway, last Friday I posted my first print for sale in the "ebay/swap" section. I wanted to post it here, since this is where most of the traffic is. I hope thats ok? As of this morining 24 have sold. 26 left! Thanks for everyone who's ordered. They will be shipping out this week.
Welcome to my first official print release! Many of you have been following my progress and today it actually happens. Thanks to everyone who showed support during my learning curve.
Title: Do you think⦠Medium: Silkscreen. 4 color with artist embellishment (red cross) Paper size: Approximately 19x26 inches Image size: 17 by 24 inches Paper stock: RIVES Heavyweight Printmaking Paper 175g Edition size: 50 signed, 10AP signed, 10AT signed Cost: 50 Pounds maximum (SEE BELOW)
RULES OF COMBAT: I mentioned my rules a few weeks ago. Here are the official βcrazy rules.β
1. Prints will be offered at banksy.info. Silky has done a great job hosting this forum. Thanks Silky. Im in the process of building a website. Any leftover prints will be offered there at a later date.
2. HOW TO BUY: First come first served. PM me that you want a print, and I will fill orders based on when they are received. I will PM you back (within 24 hours) with a total cost. You will then have 24 hours to make payment via Paypal. If you donβt pay in 24 hours, your order will be canceled. ONLY ONE PRINT PER PERSON PER DAY.
2. COST: I will be selling an edition of 50. The first print is 1 Pound and goes up by one Pound per print. If you get the tenth print, its 10 Pounds⦠the twentieth print is 20 Pounds and so on. Needless to say, the last print is 50 Pounds. I do this to show appreciation to those who support me quickly. Thanks in advance!!!
3. PROVENANCE: All prints sold will be accompanied by a $1 bill (USA). The serial number will be your provenance. The edition number and corresponding serial number will be posted on the website at a later date. You can also contact me directly before the site is up and running with any questions.
4. SHIPPING: Shipping to the UK is 8 Pounds. Shipping to the USA is 5 Pounds. Insurance is optional.
5. REPEAT BUYERS: If you are a repeat buyer, you will have the opportunity to purchase a specific edition number for 50 Pounds. If the first print you purchased was #1, you could buy that number each time for 50 pounds as future prints were released. This only applies to the first day a print is released. After that, you can request a number and I will try my best to accommodate. If no request is made, you will get the lowest number available. This is going to be tough to implement, please bear with me if its bumpy at first. In theory, you could be the first person to request a print, but will end up getting a higher print number because a previous buyer would have paid extra to secure a specific number. If you skip buying a print, you will lose your priority in buying in the future. I hope this makes at least a little sense, now my brain hurts.
6. SELLING PRINTS. Im all for selling prints. I would take it as a compliment to see my work sold in the after market. If you sell my print on ebay, you can have half off your next print you buy. The good news is you get your next print half off, the bad news is you no longer have my other print.
7. IN THE FUTURE: My pledge to you is to start off by making ten different prints. I hope to do one a month. If I'm moderately successful at it, I will continue doing it. If I'm hugely successful, maybe a gallery will pick me up and Ill make a zillion dollars.
I plan on keeping edition numbers low. This one will be 50. I promise not to exceed edition sizes of 100 (not including AP or AT) for the next two prints.
8. WHAT IS AT? I mention 10 AT prints. I'm calling those βArtist Tradeβ prints. I love to barter. If you have something youβve done, maybe we could trade?
Since this is my first time doing this, I might need to adjust a few things if they aren't working out. Once again, thanks for your interest!

Crazy Jake πΊπΈ Michael Jacob, by Michael Jacob on Jan 29, 2008 18:42:56 GMT 1, Greetings fellow forum members. Take a look below, I need your opinions on whether or not you think its worth printing. I like the image myself, but theres considerable cost on doing a whole run. This is my working file, which still needs tweeking, but you'll get the idea. Id like to know what you think. If you dont like it, please post more than "it sucks!" or "it sucks - really bad!". Thanks again for all those who bought my first two prints. More are on the way (other than this one), including a cool little 3d piece.
For this print, Im calling it "FW". I think you know what the F stands for. The W is someones middle initial. He's know around the world, is a leader and his last day in office is 012009. Its a 4 color screenprint, image is 18x18 inches.
Heres my story: I live in the States. Im 39 and the last Presidential election is the first time I ever voted. I voted for Bush. At the time I believed he was doing a good job and doing the right thing. Lets just say my opinion has changed. If my one voted tipped the scale, IM SORRY! What really stinks is that I live in Ohio, and it ended up being the deciding factor for the election. Anyway, enough blabber, I welcome all opinions!
Thanks. Crazy jake!

My two cents.

Crazy Jake πΊπΈ Michael Jacob, by GVD on Jan 29, 2008 19:36:25 GMT 1, You should really change the colour of the background, i think it ruins the image. I think it would be an improvement if the background was like an Iraqi alley or dessert or something.
Also it has a bit of a photoshopped look to it, it would be cooler if you stencilized it or something .

Crazy Jake πΊπΈ Michael Jacob, by seidbereit on Jan 29, 2008 19:39:02 GMT 1, If you hadn't pointed out that his left hand was supposed to be making a W sign, I'd not have guessed to be honest.
- Very poor and weak image, doesn't even look like a soldier - Sickening background colour - Everything gozgoz said - He's not even flipping the middle finger properly... why can't Americans flip the bird properly?
Sorry CJ. Awful.
