Still adore their music. I remember buying their first LP when it came out, and as a teenager being amazed that there was a band that sang about the angst that a teenager felt.

I saw him live in London shortly after the film came out, he was quite frail but blew everybody away the moment he started to sing. I havenโt listened to him for a while, thanks for the reminder!

I saw him live in London shortly after the film came out, he was quite frail but blew everybody away the moment he started to sing. I havenโt listened to him for a while, thanks for the reminder! |

Despite my memory being poor these days, I still recall buying this LP many years ago in Greenwich market.
Bob Mould at his best.
Perhaps itโs just me, but this particular song makes me think of the Stranglers. No doubt the harpsichord (or what sounds to me like one)

That's scary, makes me feel old, how young does Black Francis look?? Still one of the best voices ever, remember it once being described as an anguished howl and that was spot on. Was supposed to see them at Gloucester leisure centre on the Bossanova tour but couldn't go, think the folks deemed me too young but my cousin went.
The ones that got away. Missed out on Nirvana at the bierkeller too.

The gig at Bierkeller was on the 4th of November, the gig in Amsterdam was on the 25th.

I saw the Pixies live at Crystal Palace Bowl in 91, and a couple of times since.
I donโt remember anything about the gig, apart from the fact that I was with a friend who was a newly qualified lawyer, working in crime, who was on call. She couldnโt drink, but we could. Just before the Pixies started, she got the call and had to go to the nick! I did feel very sorry for her.
