What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by craigf on May 6, 2013 17:38:12 GMT 1, Saw this chap live 31 years ago! mesmorising stage presence. He's recently moved to LA (probably lives next door to Banksy )
Still going strong, I last saw him in 2006 or maybe 2007, he's playing some dates this year if you are looking to relive your youth

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by Coach on May 11, 2013 23:14:44 GMT 1, Is that a recent tune minibear? i dont tend to keep up to date with music these days, stuck in my old ways. I like it. Has a portishead feel to it - sounds like the music coming out of Bristol in the 80's. Cool vid too.

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by Coach on Jun 15, 2013 0:15:12 GMT 1, Had a bit of a music session with my eldest earlier tonight. For some reason this consisted mostly of Boney M (lover of the Russian queen, it was a shame how he carried on!).
But i did introduce him to the Cowboy Junkies, a band I was into in the late 80's. And I was chuffed to hear him listening to this after he had gone to bed
Beautiful, chilled....

I love the conviction and possession-like performance. Similar to Jacques Brel, very all-or-nothing performers.

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by Coach on Jun 18, 2013 23:57:19 GMT 1, Everyone should have a little Florence Foster Jenkins in their life
From Wiki
"From her recordings it is apparent that Jenkins had little sense of pitch and rhythm, and was barely capable of sustaining a note. Her accompanist can be heard making adjustments to compensate for her tempo variations and rhythmic mistakes. Her dubious diction, especially in foreign language songs, is also noteworthy.
Despite her patent lack of ability, Jenkins apparently was firmly convinced of her greatness. She compared herself favorably to the renowned sopranos Frieda Hempel and Luisa Tetrazzini, and dismissed the abundant audience laughter during her performances as "professional jealousy." She was aware of her critics, but never let them stand in her way: "People may say I can't sing," she said, "but no one can ever say I didn't sing."
If you would like to own this on CD, this is the one I would go for:

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by Deleted on Jun 22, 2013 20:43:27 GMT 1, At work, Bach's B mass Minor. Are you a sound engineer...or a lighting engineer..or something like that then sean? Always struck me as a cool job to do. More lighting now Coach. Can do live sound, but try and avoid it if possible because every member of the audience thinks of themselves as an expert because they've got a graphic equaliser and will tell you where you're going wrong. Also people don't seem to understand there is a difference to a live sound and the one they get on a cd or via tv. So basically I can't be bothered with the hassle anymore. With lighting they haven't got a clue how it's done.
It's been a great job - seen some fantastic things, worked with some great performers. But also worked with some complete c***s, only on one night stands, but that was enough. Jim Davidson was one of those - did a show where he refused to go on if the disabled people remained in the audience. I've dined out on that story for many a year.
Only drawback are the long hours and late nights, which take their toll on relationships. But been f***in' good fun along the way!

Apart from the few bad experiences you describe, that sounds like a fabulous job. I love hearing people enthuse about what they do, no matter what it may be.
