Jef Aerosol π«π· Stencil Street Art , by goffy on Apr 3, 2008 14:05:03 GMT 1, Since I'm being insulted here let me put things straight, who gives a fuck what that (poor) Catwoman canvas went for. At times this forum seems like The Jef Aerosol Personal Shop and it's getting very boring. And as far as being 'jealous' nacional, what the fuck are you on about, knobhead. I'll add a little smiley face so you can think 'is he being serious or just having a laugh' ;D

Jef Aerosol π«π· Stencil Street Art , by Jef Aerosol on Apr 3, 2008 15:04:01 GMT 1, Goffy, I hadn't posted any "personal" thread on this forum for quite a long time ! I'm precisely very careful not to be too present ! Dozens of threads deal with the results in auctions (Bonhams, etc) or with much more "money" oriented topics... I really don't see what was wrong with my post ! Saying that this forum seems like my "personal shop" is total nonsense ! If you aren't interested in my work, why do you read and waste time to post ? I have a feeling a few people here would have that same unfair reaction even if I only posted one single message a year !!!
ps : was not selling anything in those posts, but only giving some news, information...

Jef Aerosol π«π· Stencil Street Art , by romanywg on Apr 6, 2008 16:19:49 GMT 1, Love this in the write up on the Jef Aerosol piece. " D*FACE IS VERY WELL KNOWN AMONG COLLETORS (sic) OF BANKSY, WHOS PIECES BOTH GO FOR THOUSANDS OF POUNDS JUST FOR PRINTS AND THE ORIGINALS SELL FOR TENS OF THOUSANDS AND, WHICH HAS MADE BANKSY A HOUSE HOLD NAME. THIS IS NOT A PRINT, BUT AN ORIGINAL STENCIL, SO DON'T MISS OUT AS ONCE ITS GONE ITS GONE!" I'm sorry, what has that got to do with this Aerosol piece?

;D
Houses often sell for hundreds of thousands of pounds and you can hang this in your house thus vastly increasing it's value!

Jef Aerosol π«π· Stencil Street Art , by Jef Aerosol on May 19, 2008 17:59:40 GMT 1, forgot to say that the film will be on ARTE television (French-German channel, www.arte.tv/fr/ , dunno if you can view it abroad ?) on June 18th. The name of the programme is "court circuit". it's usually broadcast after midnight.

Jef Aerosol π«π· Stencil Street Art , by Jef Aerosol on May 21, 2008 10:43:49 GMT 1, thanks... ok, let me explain what the movie is about. It's difficult to sum up as the plot is simple but the interest of the movie is in the details and the way it was shot. Anyway, to put it in a nutshell : A girl (Virginie, played by the excellent Jeanne Cherhal) who works in a photocopy shop has a chat with her boss once and he tells her that he's been in love with a woman (Coralie) he only met very briefly on a train about 30 years earlier and has never heard of since. The only thing he keeps from that girl is an old torn snapshot he took then and that he always has in his wallet. So, Virginie once borrows that photo from her boss's pocket and photocopies it. Then she enlarges it and makes stencils from it : a lifesize one, a bigger one, and a huge face closeup too. She pastes up those stencilled posters in the city and adds the address of the photocopy shop. Will Coralie be found ? What is very important to know is that this is a musical film, in the way Jacques Demy did ("les demoiselles de Rochefort", etc...). Nicolas Engel has always been a great fan and specialist of this genre and his previous movie ("les voiliers du Luxembourg") was already a musical movie. This time, the music was composed by Philippe Poirier, a French musician who got especially well-known for his contribution to the band Kat Onoma. He did a great job using the rhythm of the copying machines as a steady beat, a background for the tunes. In "les voiliers du Luxembourg", Nicolas showed some street stencils by Nemo but they were not really "part" of the plot. This time, he wanted street art to play a mere "part" in the plot. As a fan of my work, he thus asked me to create the stencils and paste them during the shooting. That was a very interesting experience and I loved the atmosphere on the shooting...

Jef Aerosol π«π· Stencil Street Art , by Jef Aerosol on May 21, 2008 11:40:51 GMT 1, Well, the movie has only just been out... It is being shown at the Cannes Festival now, it's in competition in the "semaine de la critique" section. I haven't seen the finished movie yet ! I'm dying to. I couldn't go to Cannes, so I gave a dozen paste-ups to Nicolas so that they could be pasted up in Cannes during the Festival. I look forward to watching the film at last ! I'm told the reactions at Cannes were very good. It'll be shown in Paris soon and will be broadcast on Arte TV too. As it's a short movie (20 mn), it can only be shown in festivals etc... It's Nicolas's second short film and, of course, if "Coralie" gets some good feedback, maybe it might allow him to shoot his first long feature film...
