New collector Want to Buy- Katrin Fridriks, Jeremy Geddes, by dangleberry on Jun 30, 2010 10:15:11 GMT 1, Hello, I've been lurking in the shadows for some months while saving up for longer and have finally registered and would like to start collecting. I've learned a lot and come to admire many of the artists on this site over the last year so thank you to all who contribute.
My issue, apart from the usual one of money, is trying to find work that my wife likes. So, while I love the work of Joseph Loughborough for example, my wife isn't so keen and to be fair, it might frighten my young children. I'll work on this!
Two artists that would get past the wife test are Katrin Fridriks and Jeremy Geddes. Neither appear much on this site but I wondered if anyone had work to sell? I'd be especially interested in original works although I fear that they may be out of my price range. Still, I can always save for longer!
Thanks.

Original Geddes go for between $3k and $20k AUS.. Cosmonauts on the higher end, massive waiting list and rarely if ever anything on the secondary market I'm afraid. Prints are great quality and value for money, would start there maybe.

New collector Want to Buy- Katrin Fridriks, Jeremy Geddes, by dangleberry on Jun 30, 2010 11:35:22 GMT 1, Thanks for all of the swift responses. I've put in an email to both Jeremy and Katrin and will see what they say. The Geddes original prices are high (unless the aussie dollar has taken a massive fall recently!) but not suprising given the quality of his work. I'll pick up a couple of prints from his site though - these would be a great start for me.
I'll let you know if I get any response from the two artists and in the meantime I'll work on the wife regarding Joseph Loughborough! Not sure his recent paintings of skulls will persuade her though!
Appreciate the help and if anyone does have anything from either artist that they want to sell then let me know.

The Aussie $ was $2 - ยฃ1 upto 12 months ago so I guess the prices are not too bad for originals as it must take him an age to paint those pieces. I also spoke to them recently when they confirmed there is a long waiting list. The prints are great, personally I prefer the works with figures within a city scape rather than floating withing the pastel type backgrounds.
Amazing talent and definitely one to watch !

I also prefer the city scape works - they are superb and you are right, they must take him a very long time as they are incredibly detailed. I'm not normally that keen on photo realist stuff but his seem to have an extra edge about them which lift them above a simple reproduction of reality.
It seems like an original is not likely for me but I'll definitely pick up some prints. If only I'd discovered him a couple of years ago (I suspect that this is a common lament among collectors and something I'll be saying a lot!).

New collector Want to Buy- Katrin Fridriks, Jeremy Geddes, by Coach on Jun 30, 2010 21:47:11 GMT 1, You have great taste dangleberry, and welcome to the forum. I was lucky to pick up this little og from Geddes, and I hope people who have seen it before dont mind me showing it off again. Hold out for a small og if you can - they are stunning in the flesh.
To my shame, I have not yet got this framed. Saving up to do it properly! c

New collector Want to Buy- Katrin Fridriks, Jeremy Geddes, by Coach on Jul 1, 2010 0:21:43 GMT 1, "Every time"! It's only the second time Seriously tho', glad you like it. Thought it worth posting to show dangleberry the more affordable og's. I would love a big astronaught/city scape canvass, but way out of my league.
Thanks etched.

New collector Want to Buy- Katrin Fridriks, Jeremy Geddes, by dangleberry on Jul 1, 2010 9:46:07 GMT 1, Fantastic Coach. Price wise I would guess that this is more in my league but it seems that demand for Geddes way exceeds supply so I'll just have to keep 'em peeled for an opportunity in the future and make do with the prints for now.

New collector Want to Buy- Katrin Fridriks, Jeremy Geddes, by dangleberry on Jul 2, 2010 9:31:15 GMT 1, meatbag,
I've been in contact with Katrin about a commission but she doesn't have the time (or surmises that I don't have the budget!) at the moment so she has put me in contact with Ed and Paul at the future tense. I'll see what they have.
Any chance we can see your Fridriks piece?

sure man. The long narrow pieces are labeled as "crayons". I totally dig them and was lucky to score the black. The sizes are quite unique and can fit into tight places that a traditional painting may not. Prices are ยฃ3K. Would love to add a few more down the road.
