OH MY GOD! Banksy, by Deleted on Jun 1, 2010 18:33:31 GMT 1, i would be more concerned that:
1. It only has Laz provenance - i would have thought any auction would have the minimum Pest Control or POW authenticity;
2. The owners name and address is clearly visible on the Laz prov.

OH MY GOD! Banksy, by snausages on Jun 1, 2010 18:41:13 GMT 1, Seriously, it's got Steve Lazarides fingerprint, and I'm sure the auction house did their checks. I think people here get too much in a kerfuffle over Pest Control certificates.
Whatever, the owner probably has moved and doesn't care. I can't make it out but it almost looks like the xxxx xxxx Gallery. May have been bought specifically to resell? Or maybe the gallery shut down?
Piece will never sell at this price. Maybe they'll drop the opening bid at auction time? Sometimes they do.
But I wouldn't bid more than $50k for it. But really I would never buy it because the image isn't iconic at all. Maybe I would have bought it at retail if it's all I could have gotten. Anyone know what this originally sold for.

OH MY GOD! Banksy, by oneeye on Jun 1, 2010 20:21:01 GMT 1, I remembering seeing this piece at the LA show. It's fully legit. Can't image PC not issuing a COA.

Seriously, Lazarides is not the authentication process for any of banksy's works, not any longer and hasn't been for nearly 2 years now, so I would suspect the auction house haven't done their checks, if they did, it would have pest control certification. Also for a minimum purchase price of $183K plus taxes, i would make sure it had Pest Control provenance all over it.
As for the sellers information its not a gallery, Pacific Palisades is a very nice suburban area of Santa Monica, houses sell in the region of $3million.
Edit: sellers information has been removed from the Laz letter

The vast majority of art sold at auction houses including art worth much more than this does not come with a "certificate of authenticity." I understand buyer beware, and do your checks, but the obsession with certificates around here sometimes is to an extreme.

OH MY GOD! Banksy, by snausages on Jun 9, 2010 22:46:04 GMT 1, I'm sure Lazarides gallery would be happy to confirm with you if you purchased it.
Looks like lot passed anyway. Estimate was absolutely ridiculous.
