i totally disagree - if you look at his style of execution, you can see how talented this guy is. One paper he uses a technique no other artists has used before, on large original pieces, again a totally different technique and outdoors again a different technique. I think his prints are fantastic and you could in theory say this is an original as each print is unique

And as for technique never used before on paper (I'm assuming you mean bleach), someone should introduce him to the bleach pen, saves on silkscreens!

I quite like it, but i tisn't the sort of image I want on the wall regardless of price, although I wouldn't buy it at that price anyway. There's some amazing art out there at great prices at the moment, which I prefer, but for someone who LOVES this image, fair enough, enjoy ahead! The other point is that when you compare the price of a large edition print to the price of a low editioned or unique OG, I'd say the pricing is wrong on Vihls' prints in general, but that's just IMO of course.

I really like Vhils style and love his street work, his was one of the highlights at Cans, but his prints dont do anything for me. I like the one off nature of them but the content of the images doesnt float my boat. I'd prefer some other subject matter done in the same style with more variation in the inks colours

i much prefer the large scale site specific installations which are breathtaking and brilliant.

i like it but im i dont think i would find a place for it on my wall. also im not sure about having a building and a face, i cant see any link. however i think his originals are out of this world and i will own one one day!

I'm refering to Vhils, not other artists. According to members here they've picked up his other works for reasonable prices from his agent over the past year and there was even a lovely original portrait on paper posted in here a while back which I believe was sold for under USD$1,000 by an American gallery, not the same size as that monster at Laz perhaps, but nice pieces. I'd say that makes £275 for 1 of 200 printed works fairly dear (imo). From day 1 on POW, I've felt his prints were too pricey and although I think he's very talented, I hold that same opinion now.

e.g. editions of 17 for £326 + VAT at Laz (IMO MUCH nicer pieces too, I haven't liked the POW Vhils prints massively, other than the 1st one they had):

Not sure how/why, but I got emailed the pdf sales list for this show.

They all look like he's torn through a few ads, but then just pasted a face cut from white paper on top.
Has he changed/simplified how he makes these, or did I not look close enough before?
