New Conor print , by Tyler Durden on Mar 21, 2007 11:23:56 GMT 1, I e-mailed Lazinc when they sent the newsletter out, stating my interest. I haven't heard anything about it since, and my interest is waning.. I really like his work but it is better value to go for a canvas at that price. But yes, the litho's are signed and numbered by the artist.

New Conor print , by reados on Mar 21, 2007 14:36:42 GMT 1, its a heck of a lot of money, i did the same emailed, having second thoughts now, they have not told you what the postage is yet.
i dithered on a banksy canvas once couldn't afford the £500 and the a few years later a banksy kate moss for £1750, would i have sold them now if i had them i don't know. I can't really aford this Harrington print. Something overides the fact that im not actually sure if I like the image that much?

New Conor print , by Tyler Durden on Mar 21, 2007 15:29:33 GMT 1, I agree with mcmcmc.. I'm thinking that I'll probably take the plunge, then regret it later as I pay it off. I want to see it in the flesh first though, then if they can hold onto one for me I'll pick it up in person rather than pay the postage.

Anyone know the nutrional value in Super Noodles?

New Conor print , by Tyler Durden on Mar 22, 2007 16:45:51 GMT 1, Just had the phone call from Lazinc asking for me card details for the Conor print. I've held off paying as I'm going to go see it first and see whether I can justify paying that much for the print. May have to offload a couple of my other prints if I really think it's worth it..

A wise move IMO, I like the image myself, but wouldn't/can't pay that much, but after seeing it in the flesh you'll know one way or the other for sure.
When you viewing it?

New Conor print , by Tyler Durden on Mar 22, 2007 17:03:00 GMT 1, I'm going to Greek Street tomorrow afternoon some time. If they let me take pics of it irrespective of my decision, I'll be sure to put them up here. I'm hoping that if I do decide to get it that I can pick up a copy there and then. I'm not too keen on having the postage costs on top of the VAT.. on top of the print costs.. If it was much more expensive I'd insist on having one of Laz's fingers rather than just the print. He is, after all, taking an arm and a leg from me!

New Conor print , by Winter on Mar 22, 2007 17:05:55 GMT 1, Got mine today, Ideally needs to be seen in a frame but the one they have in Laz is in a plastic sleeve on the floor so doesn't do it justice. Laz gallery is gloomy on a bright day.
Personally I love the image and am delighted to finally get to own a piece of his work. I look forward to doing it justice and getting it on a wall.

You won't regret it!! I wish I had the dough for one....

New Conor print , by Tyler Durden on Mar 22, 2007 17:47:28 GMT 1, No worries - he did design it for me.. I'm going down to Lazinc tonight to make the decision. Although I get paid tomorrow and it makes more sense to sleep on it, I'm sure I'm the same as a lot on this site that I'll get too impatient!

New Conor print , by Tyler Durden on Mar 22, 2007 21:18:58 GMT 1, Well.. I went there and the inevitable happened. I'm going to need to sell a couple of other prints to cover the outlay on this one unfortunately. Gonna have to let me Death and Glory find a new owner I think..
My pictures don't do it justice, but then I'm using my phone camera:

New Conor print , by BK83 on Mar 22, 2007 21:39:37 GMT 1, Just out of curiousity does anyone know anything about the process of taking a painting and making it a print or lithograph -- it ceases to amaze me!
looking at TylerDurden1's pics here of the Conor print, it looks as though they've done a fantastic job of recreating Conor's amazing canvas work. Of course the canvas is no doubt probably no comparison, it seems as though the prints have really brought the layering effect of Conors work into play here.
Someone shed some light, please!

It's what I do for a living, so I know a little bit about it.
First stage is it will need to be digitised and colour seperated either by scanning or by using an advanced digital camera in studio conditions. I've a professional high end scanner but the limitation is that it's scanning bed is 470mm X 350mm so artwork bigger than that will need to be scanned in halves or quarters and joined in Photoshop. Larger artwork will need to be photographed.
Printing is normally done in 4 colours (CMYK) Cyan Magenta Yellow & Black inks and by producing 4 printing plates each having a halftone screen on it, so a solid yellow printing with an 80% dot of magenta will give an orange, if a 50% dot of cyan was added it would make a brown.
The trouble is not every colour is obtainable out of CMYK alone so if you move up to 6 or 8 colour printing you can introduce 'special colours' so in this case that blue splash would have to be seperated again so you can make a printing plate for a bright blue ink and it will only be applied where needed etc for a few other colours. There are slight variations and systems on how this is achieved like Hexachrome which uses a standard 6 colours.
If your artwork is simple enough (like Banksy's screen prints) you could print it just using 2 or 3 special colours, the process is the same, scan or image capture, seperate, plate and print.

I'm an independent reprographic bureau that does work for many printers, publishers, artists and designers etc. The scanner does the basic seperation for me, that's not hard, the plate making will be done by the printer and more often than not these days it's CTP (computer to plate) so that's not too tricky anymore either.
Where my skill comes in is knowing about colour and how to achieve it using the right mix/balance of CMYK, colour correction, using photoshop and knowing the full process.
