Shepard Fairey - Eye Print, by scandi on Jan 21, 2010 0:37:14 GMT 1, Quite nice. Unfortunately I will be nowhere near a computer tomorrow evening. How could Shep know that a republican would get the seat in Mass and ruing the health care bill though? Or did he make this in a few hours?

Oh well, as per graffalo, not too cut-up about missing it, but I am sooooo competitive...

Shepard Fairey - Eye Print, by artstylee on Jan 21, 2010 21:06:21 GMT 1, down the line it will be relevant given health care reform is a Big issue for america.
Since Shep is todays Warhol. Really everybody hates on Shep. Murakami said in a speech at the Getty I believe that "Warhol was hated while he was alive" and mentioned that it's amazing that Warhol is so well loved now in death years decades later.
I'm just saying, hate on his stuff, but the reality is that he is today's warhol. and the warhol museum confirms that with the retrospective showing they did at the warhol museum last year. Bottomline you can not like the new prints. But everything shep does is art history. Wait till he's 50+ and the as respected as all the greats.
Just saying don't hate too hard.... because we're all going to look dumb later when the print is an important piece of art history years later.

Shepard Fairey - Eye Print, by angel41 on Jan 22, 2010 10:21:25 GMT 1, I like about 50% of Sheps work but to put him in the same bracket as Warhol is a tad hyperbole. Fair enough comparison about him being hated as much in his lifetime but Warhol revolutionised art as we know it today. Shep's just released loads of prints.

I wouldnt really say shep is hated! I also wouldnt say he's "just released loads of prints." He's done more for street art than a VAST majority of any street artist out there!
