Yeah, Frankie's a top bloke, and he's sorted me out several times with prints and never chased me for anything, even when I've owed him (a lot) - he does have an opinion about a lot of stuff, but then so does everyone on here, and he does know his stuff - you only need to look at the artists he represents (against all those he's turned away) to see he's not just after a quick buck.

He's not moved on, just probably fed up posting with all the haters on here...

I don't know Frankie personally but I do know that his 'gallery' has bought up work with the sole intention of selling it on for an inflated price. He also has fanned the flames of mania by inflating his prices the second after strong auction results. And in my over opinionated view, I still think his asking prices are way over the top.

That said, it really isn't that unusual for many 'galleries' to behave this way, and Frankie may very well be the greatest guy in the world on a personal level and I'll take your word for it that he is. But I still would recommend major negotiation if you have any inclination about buying any of the secondary market pieces he sells.

Funny how people usually get ripped to shreds here when someone tries to sell something for way over the odds. When someone buys a print on the forum and immediately puts it up for sale at a higher price, that person gets mercilessly ridiculed.

But for some reason if a top bloke does it everyone rushes to praise him? Funny how human emotion works.

And if you're referring to me george, the gallery I was affiliated with almost never deals in secondary market artwork. And quite honestly the work they do sell is much less expensive than the vast majority of overhyped stuff sold at frankies and on this forum.

But the big difference is that a gallery is a business and has to make a profit to pay wages, web fees, rent, taxes, costs for putting on shows etc, etc, etc, etc,.

Someone getting lucky and buying a print at cost to flog on a couple of weeks after purchasing it is not really putting anything back. They are just out for pure personal gain. They have no costs to meet. That is the essential difference and why they get a lot of stick.

The threads degenerated somewhat since I saw it earlier and some of the things said are a somewhat harsh.

I can remember when Frankie started his first site and at that time he did move prints on at a margin rather than where he is now. It was once said on here it was a case of poacher turned game keeper as he then went on to release some great prints, run some stand out shows like "Found" and represent upcoming artists like Herakut. I have only ever had positive dealings with him and the personal nature of some of the comments imho isn't called for. Galleries sell art to make a living, they have overheads, have to charge VAT etc. so will always be more expensive than buying off someone clearing out their portfolio.

Aside from some opinions on prices, selection and business practices I see only one harsh and personal attack against frankie by someone who is now a "guest" - booted from the forum for insulting Frankie? And yet I see dozens of praise for the guy, ...a little over protective?
