NEW WORK - Ophelia Painting, by Rourke on Sept 5, 2009 15:24:07 GMT 1, Hello
These are my most recent Paintings, hopefully you can see how doing the abstracts is helping develop the Style further. The first one, I have a few minor details to finish. Havent fully decided on the title of the peice, so for now I am going to call it 'Ophelia'. Because at the time I was painting the peice, I was really into the Pre-Raphaelite's series and decumentarys on the tele, I researched into them quite alot, and the whole thing fascinated me, and totally was a massive inspiration into doing the actual painting.
Another reason is that all conventional painting techniques are 'out of the window' in these peices. On the 'Ophelia' peice, I first started making up the image with bits of Newspaper headlines, magazine cuttings, building them up and spraying them with spraypaint for a bit of colour. I eventially lost most of them, when I started to paint the picture, but some of them are still on it if you look carefully. Then instead of using the brush flat as your suposed to, I used it on its side in a wiggling motion very gentle, so it just catches the texture, the wooden bit of the brush is more or less paralell with the canvas. Doing this over and over again using a number of different colours in the key areas. Slowly build up the depth in the peice. I think if you look at it very carefully, it does give the overall look of the picture a very different appearance. I have been doing this for quite a while now in my paintings but want to keep developing it.
any comments and thoughts most welcome Cheers,
Anyway here it is 'Ophelia' Acrylic, Goache, Spraypaint on Canvas, size: 30" x 24" Prints available soon
I did this one before I did the one above

NEW WORK - Ophelia Painting, by Sohoria on Sept 5, 2009 18:30:37 GMT 1, looks like going full time being an artist has paid off...lol... really the first art piece is truly beautiful... you must be really proud of producing such amazing art pieces... i would really love to see this on the street...think would really turn heads and people would really appreciate it...
you never stick to one style of producing artworks and just amazing to see progression over the past few months...! hope all else is going well!...s

NEW WORK - Ophelia Painting, by mutant on Sept 5, 2009 18:40:34 GMT 1, These are two lovely pieces. I really like the way how the background was created. It adds lots of texture to the painting itself. I have to say these are just brilliant. Keep them coming.

NEW WORK - Ophelia Painting, by Deleted on Sept 5, 2009 18:46:47 GMT 1, Rourke, you keep surprising me! you are one of the few artists that keeps coming with new techniques/styles.. Dont like all of your images (my fault) but your talent is great! a great role model for many people who call themselves artists..

NEW WORK - Ophelia Painting, by Replete on Sept 5, 2009 18:48:43 GMT 1, really love the 2nd one with the brooding light raining down between the tower block and the terraces. It really captures the feel of northern industrial towns like Bradford.
