GRAFTER - Made it?!?!? , by burghlar on Jun 20, 2008 1:41:03 GMT 1, That's funny. I never really thought about that. It's definitely a sign that somebody thinks there's a good market for him. Personally, I really like his stuff. I know there has been a bit of a debate about his work and his "street cred" but I think his stuff is different--really quality images that evoke different emotions--and definitely a nice change of pace from most of the poor attempts at humor or political commentary out there.
There is one thing that the posting definitely indicates though...whoever that seller is, he is a complete a$$hole. That canvas just went on sale less than two weeks ago and he is already flipping it on ebay. He should have just left it to one of the many people who tried to get one but couldn't. That really rubs me the wrong way.

GRAFTER - Made it?!?!? , by beefloaf on Jun 20, 2008 1:45:31 GMT 1, GRAFTER SEEMS LIKE A NICE FELLOW, AND I WISH HIM ALL THE SUCCESS IN THE WORLD.
IF HE SPENT A COUPLE OF YEARS REALLY HONING HIS SKILLS I THINK HE MIGHT BE QUITE SUCCESSFUL. I AM ALWAYS DISAPPOINTED BY THE RUSH TO MARKET AND THE DESIRE TO CASH IN NOW!!!
ARE YOU TELLING ME HE DOESN'T HAVE A WEBSITE? SEEMS LIKE THAT WOULD BE STEP ONE.

GRAFTER - Made it?!?!? , by Heavyconsumer on Jun 20, 2008 4:06:16 GMT 1, I think if you took the time to contact Grafter and ask questions directly, rather than make such assumptions, you would find that he has indeed spent a couple of years honing his skills with a scalpel and finding a style that he is feeling more and more comfortable with. I think it clearly shows in the quality of his work as well. A nice guy, whose first commercial project was in fact a charity fund-raiser for a superb cause with an incredibly suitable image! It's hardly the Modus Operandus of a greedy bastard rushing to cash in now is it?
I think he's gone about everything in the humblest of manners, posting his work for some time on here with no mention of selling it at all. If anyone can be accused of cashing in on his work, it's probably those looking to market it. Good luck to him and all associated with him!
And very nice offer there TBE - nice one! It's amazing how much I appreciate your posts when the subject is not yourself! Good on you (not that I'd expect you to care what I think)!

I definitely agree. The charity print showed real class. Plus, if anyone is looking to get a piece of his work, he seems to be more than willing to hook them up at a reasonable price.

Agree with all this 100%. He seems a great guy and in it for all the right reasons - one of the last artists I think you could accuse of cashing-in. What he does sell is very reasonably priced and his Eskimo Kid was for me one of the stand out pieces at Cans and one of my favourite images of the year.

GRAFTER - Made it?!?!? , by mred on Jun 20, 2008 21:29:56 GMT 1, Everyone to their own but for me I like his work. I am happy that one of his "Make A Wish" edition is hanging on my lounge wall and it gives me pleasure every time I look at it.
As a person Grafter seems friendly and genuine. Not to mention generous as the Make A Wish edition was done for charity not gain. It is easy to knock someone but I think the knockers should look elsewhere.

GRAFTER - Made it?!?!? , by Blind Angle on Jun 21, 2008 12:12:08 GMT 1, Well well well.....it is sad to see somebody flipping the canvas as soon as they got. Especially after we had to turn down a lot of people that were too late to get one.
My only advice to people who are interested in Grafters work is to contact the man himself rather than lining some sad fuckers pocket!
