Banksy Glastonbury • Painted Trailer, by Peter Bengtsen on May 31, 2015 11:48:22 GMT 1, Hi Yes I am the owner and your memory fails you my friend....... This piece has never been for sale,,, shame on you for believing media buls**t lol This piece has full pest control COA It was not stolen it was performance art, a commission done at glastonbury festival......Banksy used our trailer for a canvas...... I have read this thread and you are all arm chair experts in my opinion... I will put a few facts straight then leave you guys to your expertise!!!! I hadn't finished silly computer! there is also written proof this was a commission by banksy....... I would like to point out we are all travellers of life so all the poor travellers poor me stories the press want the easily brainwashed to believe are s**t and what i do with the money is no one business but mine! and I am as greedy as the next human being.... just as you are judgemental! Yes I can see a market value our piece is the oldest original with COA..... Stealing Banksy was a show and our piece was never for sale..... [...]
That's very odd.
In The Banksy Bugle - the catalogue for Stealing Banksy? - your work is clearly listed as a sales item (valued at £350.000).
In contrast, the painting Brace Yourself is clearly indicated as not being for sale:
That your artwork was indeed for sale was also indicated by a guide when I attended a tour of the Stealing Banksy? show. The guide said the following about your piece:
"This is at £350,000 and weighs about 4½ tonnes" (transcript from audio recording of the tour).
I am fully aware that Sincura have since claimed that Stealing Banksy? was never a sales show, but an experiment to see if there would be a basis for opening a so-called "street art museum" in central London. However, given the clear focus that was put on the monetary value of the artworks at the show, this comes across as highly disingenuous.

Banksy Glastonbury • Painted Trailer, by overend on May 31, 2015 14:33:36 GMT 1, I will put a few facts straight then leave you guys to your expertise!!!! While you're putting a few facts straight you might want to get your auction listing corrected to show that this was painted by Banksy, Inkie and Pert/Lokey
I second this. Could be an important point when it comes to the artist resale rights.

This the first sale ( apparently we have already sold it according to wikipedia for £400,000, you experts should know that LOLOL).....Lyon and turnball was for another piece and the auction was a flop if you remember because banksy himself put out a statement in the metro say watch out for fake on the market.....he lied. We got our full authentication from him......So chew on all of that
I would not be surprised if Banksy lied.
He comes across as all hype anyway and the PR team desperate for column inches at any cost.
It reminds me of the art world thing where an autheticator says a painting is a fake unless they own it in which case it's authentic.
Asking market value is nothing to do with greed.
Life is a lottery and one wouldn't be expected to exchange a winning lottery ticket for a quid just because they paid a quid for it.
Cosmic events have create dthis situation.
If your truck wasn't in a certain field and if money bags Eavis had not existed and if Banksy had not known money bags Eavis and if your truck wasn't a good pr opportunity for Banksy and if banksy PR team didn't get column inches for brand Banksy and if the auction prices did not get pushed up then you woulod not be stuck with a bit of a truck with an Otto Dix like painting on the side that has a certain finacial value because of the brand name.
Plus everyone knows that if you sold it for a low price some greedy dealer and investment type would grab it and hype it even more and sell it for a million.
If Banksy fans believe that all this art belongs to teh public or it should be left in situ or you should not sell it and gain from it.
They are naive.
I do wonder if Banksy pr is behind some of this rhetoric.
We can't all promote the Marxist ideology.
Despite tha fact that Banksy fans have no problem with banksy giving away expensive prints to rich celebrity VIP's.

Banksy Glastonbury • Painted Trailer, by coller on May 31, 2015 21:49:27 GMT 1, Not getting the hate on the owners - they clearly got full permission from Banksy to sell the piece, likely to help with their children's education. That shouldn't get people upset. This isn't Keszler-type shenanigans.
Once they get the Pest COA, the whole 'removed from the street/not intended for resale and you're being greedy' argument goes out the window. That's the artist's stamp of approval for resale.

Banksy Glastonbury • Painted Trailer, by dc8010 on May 31, 2015 22:30:05 GMT 1, What happened with the slave labour piece - Was that not the piece that was pulled from one auction then went back into another and 'sold' but the actual sale never completed..... I'm not aware of a successful sale of a removed street piece (of the steel encased concrete wall variety) - I'm sure there's plenty of the more wall friendly road signs etc that have changed hands but (living in a bubble) I just never see confirmed sales and they turn up at Bank Robber 'events' over and again The slave labour piece was sold and completed, a friend who knows nothing of banksy dealt with the transaction and was amazed at the situation

Banksy Glastonbury • Painted Trailer, by buckyturco on Jun 2, 2015 16:24:27 GMT 1, The piece was never meant to be sold though surely. It's a streetpiece so there is no market value as all the high profile stolen pieces are tauted around but never sold? I'm amazed at how consistently wrong you are on this forum. It's mainly because you shoot off your mouth without reading anything and do it with authority, making you exponentially obnoxious. A "street piece?" This family is going to use it to build a house. I'm starting to understand why people I talk to find Banksy Stans so loathsome.

Banksy Glastonbury • Painted Trailer, by Deleted on Jun 2, 2015 16:36:16 GMT 1, So we're to believe this has a PC from COA? I dont think that matter. In early 2000 Banksy made 6 canvases for a hip hop club in Bergen, Norway. This was before he was famous. They were never intended to be sold. In mid 2000 they sold for £150000. I don't think these come with PC, but the authenticity is undoubtedly. They came with full PC

As I believe I am the only one who knows the most about myself and what I have........ Don't believe the papers mate they talk shit... that are sensationalists for paper sales.... Just because we aspired to sell an obviously valuable piece doesn't mean we did,,,, also sherlock, the news article you put up in another post clearly shows us still living in it.....Its not a case of abracadabra picture for sale! what about the cost of removal the logistics? (We had no money) its taken years of planning.... I can quite honestly say (though I shouldn't have too!) it has never been for sale before then.. Cu lol

Haven't been on here since the sale or after being told black was white...over my own property...... As I believe I am the only one who knows the most about myself and what I have........ Don't believe the papers mate they talk s**t... that are sensationalists for paper sales.... Cu lol

So what if it was or wasn't offered for sale previously? No one's making any negative judgement. Just stating what they've seen about the piece in the press.
I have to say, it almost seems odd that it wasn't for sale before! You said you wanted to sell it, and it was exhibited. Sounds fair enough.

Had a chat with Inkie at the Other Art Fair a week or so ago about various things including the lorry sale. He was in Paris for the auction and painted there as well. Sounded like he thoroughly enjoy himself and spoke positively about it all including the seller. Good luck to the seller, COA granted, piece sold, some cash for him and his family. Next.....

Banksy Glastonbury • Painted Trailer, by Daniel Silk on Aug 22, 2019 20:34:16 GMT 1, Travellers to net £400k after Banksy paints on the side of their TRAILER Banksy artwork the Silent Majority is to go under the hammer Known as Silent Majority, the artwork was created in the late 1990s and is now set to fetch a whopping £400,000 when it goes for auction. Banksy was said to have approached the pair of new age travellers outside the dance tent at Glastonbury and asked if they would let him use the side of their home as a canvass. The pair obliged and Banksy spent three days alongside his fellow Bristol-based graffiti partner-in-crime Inkie working on the piece. It's seen as a hugely important works from Banksy, who remains anonymous, because it's one of his earliest known pieces. It was painted freehand with very little use of stencils, unlike his more famous graffiti works. Mary McCarthy, a leading UK street art specialist, said: "We've seen some incredible works by Banksy on the market in the last few years. Experts believe the art will fetch up to £400,000 at auctiion. "However, I think in terms of provenance and uniqueness, this one tops them all. For me what is quite special about this piece is it's one of the few freehand pieces on the market. It really is a rare piece." The traveller owners, who also want to remain anonymous, said: "The significance of Silent Majority is that it depicts this era and was painted whilst the free party movement was in its prime. "It depicts the last rave and hip-hop scene of the time." The artwork, which is 10 metres wide and has been taken off the trailer, will go under the hammer in Paris, France, next month. It bears the words: "It's better not to rely too much on silent majorities... for silence is a fragile thing...one loud noise and it's gone." Auctioneer Marielle Digard said: "This is a piece from the very beginning of Banksy's career. It's scale and history makes it a true original." The work shows figures, dressed like soldiers, storming a site with a speaker in an inflatable raft. It comes with a certificate of authenticity and signatures from from both Banksy and Inkie.

Banksy Glastonbury • Painted Trailer, by KaL976 on Sept 3, 2022 20:15:01 GMT 1, I watched them paint that from start to finish [over two days] sat on an oil barrel by the side of the dance tent. I also have a copy of the small military book Mr. B was using for reference pictures.
