Guy Denning and POW/LAZ??, by salu on Dec 12, 2007 0:40:54 GMT 1, A collector friend of mine told me that she "heard" rumors of a possible POW/LAZ + Guy Denning collaboration in the coming months. Frankly, I just can't see it. Anyone else hear about this?

Guy Denning and POW/LAZ??, by alsbabar on Dec 12, 2007 0:43:11 GMT 1, why wouldnt you see it? POW/Laz will give Guy Denning the mass audience and appeal he is probably yearning for!!
POW/Laz know that Denning is actually one of the hottest artists out there, and his auction at Bonhams in Feb will demonstrate this.

I wasn't questioning the quality of GD's work when I said "I don't see it." It just seems to me that POW/LAZ concentrate on a certain type of art and GD's work does not really fit in there. I love GD's work. He deserves more attention - no doubt.

Now that's handy!
As for the rumour - highly unlikely I'd say.

I don't agree.
No-one knows where Guy sees his career going apart from himself. If Originals is what does it for him, and lets face it, GD prints don't sell that well at the mo, then i think he has all he wants at RP. Why Change.
Laz is not the be all and end all of the business.

probably to display the wares better.. there will be toys as well as prints, plus a range of artists not usually shown at Laz..

ah!
i would have thought guy denning would be really keen to tie up with Lazarides in some way? would certainly increase the numbers of people who see his stuff, rather than largely forum-based word of mouth..

Spot on! ;D From what I have heard from Guy, he wants to stick with the people and Galleries that have helped him with his art over the last 20 odd years. I cant see him turning his back on them to be signed up exclusively to Laz

Guy Denning and POW/LAZ??, by gtf on Dec 12, 2007 18:44:49 GMT 1, There is no reason why he cannot deal with both Laz and his existing Galleries. Now that he is a full time artist there is a good chance he will increase his output so able to do more shows.
Even though he is by his own admission, not a street artist, not all Laz artists are.
No idea if it will happen though

Guy Denning and POW/LAZ??, by a4mnt on Dec 12, 2007 19:32:02 GMT 1, I see Guy as a discerning artist, concentrating on creating affordable originals. I just can't imagine that the print side of things really bothers him as his originals are still within reach of most of us.
Laz would eventually just knock out large editions at stupid prices, which may make him loads of ยฃยฃยฃ but not everyone is after that.
I don't know how long Laz can keep shagging out these expensive prints in big editions before there is a real backlash.

Guy Denning and POW/LAZ??, by gtf on Dec 13, 2007 0:54:51 GMT 1, Bigman,
Does Laz really exert that much control over "his" artists?? I'm surprised, but if true I can see your point, probably not worth the hassle.
It was only recently (this year?) that Guy managed to go full time as an artist so he probably has concerns about the long term future and might be tempted.
